Wow. Blown away.
This is the first robot vaccuum that works the way I would expect a mature technology to work. I'm a new homeowner - and initially bought a cheaper (under $200) "dumber" Chinese brand. I'll spare you specifics other than saying it was just not cutting it. Wanting to upgrade, I tried a Roomba thinking it was "the" brand. After having to ship the first Roomba they sent me back because of a defect - I tested it out over a few weeks, but was extremely disappointed with its performance. Loud, temperamental, "stupid" and the app was awful. (It also did not mop) I digested hours of YouTube reviews and decided to buy an S7. THAT was shipped to me obviously used, (come ON, Amazon) with Kirkland brand wet wipes in ZipLoc bags included in the box. Frustrated of being frustrated, I just pulled the trigger on the biggest bestest (as far as I know) and order S7 MaxV Ultra with the dock that has all the bells and whistles. I am absolutely blown away by the difference. It's quieter, faster, smarter, the app is intuitive & has every kind of functionality you would expect and more. God, the mopping (with *just* water) gets the floors cleaner than my wife has been able to with a mop and elbow grease. This thing is magic. Praise aside - I'll be blunt. This is an expensive vacuum. $1500 after tax is _nuts_. NUTS. That said - if you are in the fortunate position to afford this, it is worth every nickel. (Assuming it holds up/ has a decent standard of quality) If you can afford this and are wondering whether or not the money makes a difference, know that it really really really really really does. If you are a person who (very very reasonably) has more difficulty justifying the price, I *more* than understand - if saving up would be difficult (it always, always is - life happens) I recommend buying a much cheaper robot vacuum over any of the other brands' mid range $400 ones.

Worth it
### Summary Great vacuum and mop bot, but kind of expensive. ### Price I got it for $1,400, and it includes the cleaning dock. On Black Friday, it went on sale for about $1,100. I would say that even at $1,400, it was worth it. ### Cleanliness It does an excellent job of mopping. It does a better job than if I grabbed some paper towels and tried to wipe a mess myself. You can see the dirty water it expels to see how effective it is. The vacuuming function is good, but I think that part is probably pretty standard. ### Battery The battery is excellent for a small condo/apartment. I have about 600-700 square feet of cleanable space and I have it run on the moderate vacuum and mop intensities, and it uses about 60-70% battery for the full run. I suspect on the max mop and vacuum settings, it might not last the whole run, so if you have a large house, you might need to split out your cleaning in two sessions. Also, the more stuff you have in the way, the more it has to turn, the more battery it would use. A wide, empty space should use less battery. ### Cleaning speed It takes about 90 minutes for a full run with moderate vacuuming and mopping for about 600-700 square feet cleaning space. This includes intermediate trips it has to take to clean its mop (you can configure how often, but I set it to every 30 minutes), plus it has to clean the mop before and after its cleaning session. It also takes like half a minute to empty its dust bag, too. ### Ease of Use I personally think it's easy-to-use, but I would not say that it's simple. To use it, you **NEED** to use the mobile app. I have no idea how to use it otherwise. You can set up Alexa to listen to voice commands, I think, but I don't know how to set that up (nor do I have Alexa). The app itself is pretty intuitive but complex. You can kind of guess where a setting might be. You can set up schedules (clean a specific room at a specific time of day and day of week). You can set up spot cleaning for a zone if you spill something.

DOG OWNERS BEWARE! Seriously consider what I'm about to tell you...
I never post reviews, but tonight, I feel absolutely compelled to share my story. I have been over the moon with how great this machine is. Great vacuum, great mop, really clean floors! It does everything so great! Except one MAJOR thing that it doesn't do...although the manufacturer claims it does: it will NOT avoid dog poop. With all of this technology onboard, if your dog messes in the house--and the vacuum runs before you find the land mine--you are in for a huge mess! The BIGGEST selling point of this machine for my family was that it would be great to keep the house clean having three dogs. And that is so true. It's been great! But, our oldest dog (we have three) has become incontinent in her old age, so we have accidents from time to time. If you read the description of the machine, one of the biggest selling points is object detection. And, while the object detection is mostly really good...it only takes one horrible accident to become an incredibly bad situation. The manufacturer, I'm sure, will try to claim that the size of my dog's poop was probably too small to be detected. And I'm sorry, but I STRONGLY disagree! I believe they claim the object detection is supposed to be an inch tall and two inches wide (minimum for detection). I wish I took a picture of the mess...but I CANNOT explain how majorly mad I was. I'm only NOW writing this after cooling off. In hindsight, I KNEW we might have an issue when I noticed, one night, that the vacuum was bumping into the dog's bones and toys. These bones are about 2 inches in diameter, and easily 4/5 inches long. That is ABSOLUTELY big enough for this machine and all of its sensors and tech to recognize...and yet, I watched this machine just bump and push the bone around like it wasn't even there. The dogs also have a round ring chew toy that sits about 1 1/2 inches tall and a good 6/7 inches in diameter. With this toy, the machine just drove over the top of it. According to another reviewer on here that had a similar issue, he mentioned that the manufacturer documentation states that liquids or dog waste will void your warranty. I will be researching that asap! I find it VERY hard to believe that the exact situation that they claim will NOT happen will actually void your warranty if/when it does. At any rate, the wife is upset because the smell of poop is now everywhere in the house. Oh! Did I mention that tonight's event wasn't the FIRST time...but rather the second??? The first time--thank God!--I discovered just after the machine ran through the waste. The machine was covered along the side with the rotating brush, and it was packed in all down that side. Thankfully, it didn't spread it all over the carpet. I got to it soon enough. Tonight though? sigh....not as lucky. Tonight, the machine went into the mess, then proceeded to vacuum over our area rug in the living room. The mess and smell will require a LOT of cleaning to take care of it. Again, I have LOVED this machine since I bought it--almost two months ago now--and the promise of having a cleaning machine to keep the floors cleaned of paws prints, drool, pet hair, dander, dust, etc was just phenomenal. But folks...if you have a dog, and you think this will help solve your problem, BE VERY CAREFUL!!! It could create a nightmare if you aren't careful. You've been warned. Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice?? Shame on me.

The future is here
I have had my RoboRock s7 maxV Ultra for about two months now and absolutely love it. I was extremely skeptical at first as with any large purchase I am very critical of the product, but this device has continued to prove that my investment was well worth it. But as with any product, there are limitations that may not be favorable to those currently in the market so I will try my best to break down the pros and cons which hopefully will make your decision to hit the buy now button easier. Pro's -The robot itself is an incredibly smart device that requires almost no babysitting like other robot vacuums in the market its AI obstacle recognition software while not perfect prevents the robot from getting into trouble most of the time therefore little house prep is required. -The Li-dar mapping system works very well and mapped my entire house on the first run allowing to me customize my cleaning session after the very first clean. -The app is very user friendly and allows you to completely customize the type of cleaning your house needs from room to room and is constantly updated fixing any bugs that are present -The self-cleaning base is honestly the future of robot vac-map devices which makes the robot almost completely autonomous only requiring emptying/refilling of the bins every few weeks or so depending on usage Cons -The price, There are a lot of moving parts that make this device work but at the end of the day $1500 is still a steep price and will definitely play a factor when deciding if this is right for you -Its not a complete replacement for your mop and broom so do not throw them away when this arrives at your doorstep. This device cleans like every robot vacuum therefore has the same limitations such as cleaning corners and crevices or underneath certain appliances. -While the base does clean the mop well which reduces the amount of streaks left behind while cleaning it unfortunately will start to smell rather quickly on my second cleaning session the smell of air-dried dirty mop was very present in my house. I tried removing the mop and washing it in the washing machine however the clean smell only last one more cleaning session. I found having an aeromatic diffuser running at the same time combats the smell well enough that its barely noticeable and since the floors dry quickly its not very long lasting. Roborock just added an attachment for the base that dries the mop which is supposed to help eliminate that smell however thats another $80 to the total cost and since i do not have i cannot vouch for or against. -It will struggle cleaning carpet specially carpet that has a generous amount of pet hair. Even on the MaxV setting the vacuum struggles to lift up my dogs hair from the carpet and i believe its not a suction problem but rather an issue with the brushroll itself. Im not entirely sure why roborock thought having a brushroll made completely out of rubber without a single bristle was the way to go perhaps so as to avoid tangles but it really lacks the ability to lift things out of the carpet and those with higher risen carpet will definitely notice. All tile households you've got nothing to worry about. Overall I have been very impressed and satisfied with the purchase and constantly brag about it with family and friends. This device is a game changer and will definitely set the standard for all households with robot assistants. Future iterations of this device and all alike will continue to raise the bar and I am ecstatic to see what comes next.

Works on black accented rugs!!
When my previous roborock began to die I started researching what I would replace it with. Living in the southwest desert and having a husky there's a lot of dirt and dog hair in my house and I need something that cleans reliably everyday. My barrier to a good vacuum has always been my area rugs which have black accents. Other vacuums see this as a cliff and freak out so I've always had to modify them. I couldn't get a clear answer on this one but took the plunge and got it because I really wanted something that I could basically set and forget. Tbh I would have been irritated if I'd had to modify a vacuum at this price point just to get it to vacuum my rugs, but I was thrilled to find that I didn't have to! It tackles my three area rugs and their black borders with no problems!! This vacuum is also quiet compared to my last vacuum when it's working on my laminate flooring. It's the same decibel as a regular upright when it's working the rugs. It's done a pretty good job of getting dog hairs out of the rugs though no robot vacuum will get 100% every time. It's acceptable to me and is 1000% better than my last one so I'm happy with it. It's at it's loudest when it's being emptied. It sounds like a jet engine getting ready to take off and scares my dog. I don't mind it as it means I don't have to empty it but it is incredibly loud so be prepared for that. This vacuum is incredibly intelligent. It's only bumped into a few things so far and got itself wedged into a strange spot in the bathroom that I had to rescue it from but otherwise I've pretty much been able to ignore it as it takes care of itself. I also like that I can ask Alexa to have it clean certain rooms during the day. I enjoy having it clean the kitchen after I wipe down the counters or after cooking while I sit in the other room eating. Note that any robot mop isn't going to mop as well as you will but this one does a pretty good job. My feet aren't discolored from walking around and it's kept slobber spots that my dog leaves behind from being a problem. My floors have never been cleaner and I'm able to walk around barefoot without my feet feeling dirty. Schedules work great and I like the off peak charging feature though I was confused about what hours I should put in. I figured it out though and now my floors get cleaned everyday when the off peak hours start and twice on the weekend. So far I'm very happy with this purchase. My only feedback to Roborock if they read this is to add some sort of reusable dustbin and some way of figuring out if the dustbin is full. Squishing the bag certainly isn't an exact science lol.

Almost perfect.
The Roborock s7 Max is almost perfect. It takes two chores I don't enjoy - vacuuming and mopping - and combines them into one task that it happily does whenever I ask it to. It does a very solid job of keeping my floors neat and shiny every day, and it's a treat to watch it go about its routine. The vacuum is impressive and does a great job of collecting up the hair from two house cats and reducing the amount of dust on the floors. The battery is decent enough and you can also tweak the settings on how much force you want to use to vacuum and how much mopping you need done, and you can extend the battery even further. When it does run out of power, it'll return itself to its dock and charge up and then return to duty. The mop also does a great job. It's not designed for deep-cleaning, but for a daily spruce up of the floors it excels at that. One tip- only buy first party mop pads. Made the mistake of buying a third party brand and they were too thick, which resulted in them curling up under the robot and then the robot was mopping my carpets. Not great! I will say that while all of the above is true, it comes with a hefty caveat. As the saying in life goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch and this robot excels at proving that maxim. No, I don't really need to vacuum or mop my place anymore, but I sure need to clean sensors, empty and reload mop water twice a week, maintain a water filter, and empty bags. Don't know when to do that stuff? Oh, don't worry - the robot will tell you. Loudly. And you'll also get a notification on the app with the device. I can handle all of the above, it's just how these things operate. But what I struggle with is how stupid this machine can be. For example, I have a cable runner on my floor that I put my ethernet cable into, and a rug sits on top of that runner. Every day, without fail, the robot will spend at least 5-10 minutes trying to get over this infinitesimal sized ridge on the floor and some times, it just gives up and goes home. It's infuriating with all the sensors and radar and what not, and yet it cannot comprehend this obstacle. Separately, I'm no longer afraid of a robot rebellion as I've seen their best and brightest and it seems as though the only thing humanity will need to do to outlast our robot brethren is just add low barriers to the ground. Problem solved.

I love this machine!
I hate vacuuming. Always have. Unfortunately, in the division of chores in our house, it became my responsibility. So a few years back I got a robot vacuum for xmas, but it was a cheaper one, and it was kinda "meh." Can't remember the brand. It did inspire me to buy a Roborock S4, though, which I loved. Unfortunately, after one too many of my son's charging cords got run over, my S4 finally died around Thanksgiving 2022. Technically, I could have bought replacement parts, but whatever. This was my excuse to upgrade. I did my homework (thank you Vacuum Wars) and opted to stay with the Roborock brand. The S7 Vmax Ultra is way better than I could have hoped! I love the Roborock app. It's easy to use, including setup. I really liked the quick mapping feature on the S7. It allowed me to map the house and set up the rooms and barriers/no-go zones quickly. I thought the automatic division of rooms was so-so, I think I ended up redividing them all manually. With the S7, I am using the scheduling feature to ensure that it runs regularly, as opposed to manually starting the cleaning like I did with the S4. I did not think I'd like the automatic dustbin emptying as much as I do. With my S4, it always felt good seeing the amount of dirt collected when I ran it. However, as my wife pointed out, that always led to a dust cloud on top of the trash can when you threw anything else away, which we don't have now since the S7 dust is all contained in a disposable bag. I did a few unofficial tests with the mop on my kitchen floor. My overall impression is that it is a pretty decent mop. I used to Swiffer it like once a month or so, but now I just let my Roborock do the job on Saturdays while we are out of the house. So that was an unexpected win! We are actually going to remove the carpet in most of the downstairs next year (right now my dining room is carpeted...terrible choice if you ask me), so having the mop for our new flooring will turn out to be really nice. One unexpected byproduct of owning a robot vacuum is it's helped train our son to pick up his toys. When we got the S4, he was fascinated by it, so it was easy to tell him, "Pick up your toys so we can run Rob!" After a while it became a habit which has more or less stuck, although I usually do a visual sweep of the house before I leave for work on the days our S7 runs just to be sure. I guess that's a possible drawback of the bag system, there's no finding any little toys or whatever that get vacuumed up. Luckily, he's old enough now that it's not really an issue. So I guess I've prattled on long enough about all the stuff I love about this machine, so it's time do discuss the negatives, as there are a few. Number one is with the auto scheduling feature, it is lacking in a "skip the next scheduled cleaning" button. Recently my wife was home sick for a day, and I had to go in and manually remove Tuesday from the list of days it was scheduled to run as I didn't want to disturb her if she was asleep on the couch. The automatic dustbin emptying feature is LOUD for like 30 seconds. Not really a complaint, just was unexpected. So a "skip cleaning" button would be nice. Next, while the bag system has it's merits, I really do hate buying something just to throw it away. Having a dumpable bin would be a nice option. Also, it would let you see if anything of value was sucked up. I haven't bought any bags (or other replacement parts) yet, but I'm guessing they aren't super cheap. Next, the obstacle avoidance feature is supposed to identify and avoid stuff left on the floor, but I'm unimpressed. I did a test, and it ran smack into a pair of slippers as well as a belt lying in the middle of the room. Also, it wrapped up a charger cord that had fallen off the table. No damage done, but it did stop the vacuuming that day. Pretty small complaint list, if you ask me. This machine is pricey, don't get me wrong. I did save like $400 by getting a black friday deal, but it's still a lot of money for a vacuum. However, the benefits are very much worth the cost if you can swing it. Our house is so much cleaner than it has ever been. When the morning sun shone in the windows, you used to just SEE the dust floating in the air. That is no longer the case, or at least not nearly as bad. Our allergies are not nearly as bothered as they used to be. Once it's set up, you can mostly forget about it. One improvement I forgot to mention is that I like the brush better on the S7 than the one on the S4. It doesn't have bristles, just rubber fins that seem to do just as good of a job without constantly needing the lint cleaned out of them. My wife has long hair, so be aware that you will still need to clean that off of the brush regularly. I do it once a week using a seam ripper I purchased from a fabric store, as the S7 does not include one like the S4 did. So if you are still reading, thanks! I've really enjoyed writing this review. I can't say enough good things about this machine. While it is not perfect, it has taken a chore that I absolutely hated and never did frequently enough and turned it into a job that takes like 10 minutes of effort a week, and minimal effort at that. For anyone wondering, I've been using my S7 for 3 months as of now. Our downstairs is approximately 900 square feet, with about 2/3 of that being carpet. The remainder is a mix of tile and LVT. It has a multi-level function which I used on the S4, but haven't set up yet on this one. Eventually I will do the upstairs and basement as well since it can store multiple maps for different levels of the house. I run the vacuum 3 days during the week and a vacuum/mop cycle once on the weekend. Sometimes I run it more just cause I can. I like to tell people "I think I'm going to vacuum my house now" while we're out doing something, and then show them the app and start a cycle. I know, I'm a nerd. But my house is clean!

Top of the line
I've had several robot vacuums now, the previous from Neato Robotics. The RoboRock is in a class of its own, however. Having a self-emptying bin and a self-cleaning mop is a game changer. And I have this connected to my Home Assistant automation system so I can see at a glance the latest cleaning map. I'm very much a gadget geek, and this robot has all the features I was looking for, and more. I won't detail all the features, you can find that elsewhere, but my favorites are that it has a camera to detect obstacles, which it'll note with an icon on the map, and you can even remotely connect to this camera from the app, from anywhere, and drive the robot around the house to look around, freak out the cats by talking to them, etc. My only gripe that I've not yet been able to fully resolve is that the mop pad is wide, but it only seems to put down water mostly in the center of the mop pad area. I've found some ways to mitigate this, specifically by doing a mop-only run with its highest settings, overlapping passes, etc., and you can do a 2X run that does its path in one direction across the room/house, then the second path in the other direction - in other words, with laminate flooring, for example, you can have it run along the boards on one run, and across the boards on the second run. It seems to do better with the water placement in mop only mode. Now I only wish I had another one for the other floors of my house. This robot does map multiple floors, and will auto-detect which floor it's on, but without having a charger upstairs, for example, it can't complete the whole run on one charge, and the base unit with water containers, etc. isn't easily movable upstairs. So I just set it to do half the rooms upstairs, bring it back down to charge, then do the remaining rooms after. I would definitely buy this again, and they have new models now that should be even better. These guys know what they're doing, and it's a great product.
