Destruction-Resistant Magazine
I wouldn't call it an "indestructible book", first because it's all paper, folded and bound like a magazine. There's no hard cover or spine, just stitching up the center fold. That's the weak point, and the other reason I wouldn't call it an indestructible book. In twelve days of being "well loved" by a pair of teething six month old twins, the binding is starting to come unstitched at both ends.It has also been irrevocably wrinkled since day one, but I wouldn't be surprised if it could be ironed if we really cared about such things. It's tough cotton paper or something, difficult to tear even for an adult, but easy enough to fold and wrinkle.Though I have some criticisms, I've already bought another in the series. The babies LOVE having a "book" that they can absolutely trash, and they've been thoroughly entertained all his time. It might not last forever, but it's at least worth the price per issue. If they solved the problem with the binding I'd definitely call it an indestructible magazine, and I'd be happy to subscribe.

As durable as the name implies and full of fun illustrations
We own 4 of these books and our baby loves them. We love them too. It's not only that she can yank pages and sink her little teeth into corners and not come away with a third of a page. She even loves the texture of these pages more than actual paper. There's something about the material that she loves slipping around on and slobbering all over. I really look forward to the time when she can understand what's in the books, but it's so cool that they function as a toy in the meantime. Reading them with her now is more of a wrestling match, but the fact that I don't worry about damage means I can read and show her the pages up close, which I think leads to her understanding them better.Like some other reviews said, they do crinkle and bunch up, but they do not rip. If you really really tried, you could definitely mess up a page, but by the time my baby gets that strong she'll be on to bigger books. This product is simple and cheaper than it has any right being, given it's quality. It's portable and very safe. I give it to her in the car when she is fussing and it distracts her, and I don't have to worry over it getting ripped or dirty. This particular book is very simple, just cute cartoon drawings matched with words. Some of the words are not your first thought, but I chalk those up to regional differences or word variety on the part of the writer. An example of a word in the book being 'fire engine,' and I find myself saying 'firetruck' when pointing out the illustration to her. The illustration is done well and consistent across all books, but others do have some form of narrative so you can diversify from find and identify to a more traditional story time. All in all, this book is excellent and I imagine soon we will have the full collection. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to familiarize their baby with books and foster a tactile interest in them in a way that won't result in a ticker tape parade of pages.

Amazing invention!
My baby daughter received the book Plip Plop Pond! as a gift, and I loved that she can play with the book, chew on it, wrinkle it, suck on it, drool, slobber, and spit up...and it's still good to go. So I decided to order a second Indestructibles book for her. I was surprised at all the disappointed reviewers. I guess if you don't know what you're getting, and you have very specific expectations of what a "book" should be, then you might not like this one. But we love it!What this book IS: a TOY for your baby to play with that mimics a real book and won't be destroyed no matter what your baby does to it. It has fun pictures, and a few words. Most of this series has no words. Let's face it, babies can't read, but they love paper. Your baby will think this is paper and play with it like paper, and you will be happy that she can't rip a piece off and choke on it.What this book is NOT: it is not a story book that you can read to your child. None of the Indestructibles are written stories. You can look at the pictures together, point and name things, or make up your own stories. Best of all, you can hand this book to your baby and let him or her independently play with it.Like some of the reviewers, I was temporarily alarmed when I saw what the book looked like the first time my baby played with it. It was a wrinkled mess. Does the baby care? No. She still plays with it. So I quickly realized that the smooth appearance of a new book is an adult aesthetic value, and has nothing to do with the value of this toy to my baby. This product is genius and I will be buying more as gifts for friends who have babies.

Great toy for baby
Amazing books! Not so much the content, which is bright, simple and colourful but nothing especially amazing but the fact my 7mo can screw it up, whack it around and eat it as much as she wants without damaging her. It's great when she gets hold of one of my elder daughter's books as I can just swap it for this and everyone is happy.

Fabulous
Excellent book that my 14 month old regularly thumbs through. However, i wish they had stories in them. Im an exhausted parent and trying to be creative enough to come up with a different story every time can sometimes be difficult. The book has some words in it but no actual story (I know its meant to be that way). But it hasn't ripped (its impossible, my husband tried), feels like thick paper, colours and images are really nice and bold. Havent tried washing it yet.
