Bad back
Looks nice easy to use but the seeds jam up the cogs and disengage the drive.

My new garden tool
Good product, hoped that it would be a little more than what it was for the size garden that I have, but it did the job. Easy to set up and clean up. Good product for the cost.

A total waste of time, money, and enthusiastic anticipation
I was so looking forward to being able to seed my very large garden with cowpeas. What a disappointment this thing was. First, it was almost impossible to put the seed guides in and get it to "work." Then, all it did was broadcast the seed everywhere. Great for grass seed, not good for neat rows of peas! Get a piece of one inch PVC; make it about the height of where your elbow is when you are standing up, and just put the peas in there and you will have a cheap DIY seeder. I also duct taped a little plastic recycled Beneful dog food container to the PVC pipe, and this serves as a seed holder. Lightweight, controllable, and best of all it works!

Unless you're pushing through potting soil mix, don't bother.
Ingenious little idea, but the plastic is just not going to get the job done-- it won't push a furrow through our clay, even when tilled to nearly moondust, because there is just no ability to bear down and push through because the axle is plastic, too. I even thought of using the hoe to make the furrow and then roll this over the top to just space seeds consistently, but the seed chute is not on center, it's all the way over to the left wheel, so I don't think this is going to be easy to push a straight edge enough on the dirt to predictably drop into furrow. Oh, well, with a few tweeks this could be a very handy tool, but even only paying $34, buying it used, I think is a waste.

not bad
After I ordered it, I was worried I wasted money on something like a toy. Now that I have it, here is my opinion... The handle, minus one star. Unless you are 4'-6" tall, it is to short! I am 5'-10", so I will add a 3' dowel to the top half of the handle... The main unit. The plate system is a tried and true seeding system. The plates actually fit quite well. With the hopper being tapered at the bottom, I can see the feeding working well. (but keep plenty of seeds in the hopper)... Plastic parts? I have seen lots of child toys last through lots of hard use. With that being said, I can imagine wear making things loose after (guessing) 5 miles of travel. Twice as long if you clean it every time, and use dry silicone spray or powdered graphite on the wear points. So, how long will it last? If I use it for 5 crops, each had 10 rows, that are 25 feet long, that is 1250 feet a year of use. Meaning it should last me (rough guess) 20 years of use, for what I do. (or longer if you clean and lube with the graphite) Cost per year is reasonable.

yeah it looks cheap but works and hold up like a champ.
heck of a lot better than my over $400 seeder. I actually use it on my farm. WHAT with bulging eyes!! Yes I use it on my farm. We seed, tatsoi, bok choy, spinach etc. It really works!! I bought it as a joke in a way but seeing it was designed in Germany, I figured it'll probably work. Sure enough. Its amazing. You can adjust the spacing within a row easily, depth seems to be okay. Wheels don't jam to a stop unlike my over $400 seeder. My farmer friends are weary still though... That's okay because I'm one happy camper with this seeder. Few minor shortcomings with the handle but at this price? Who cares.
