Does this table have metal securing pins rather than a catch?

No it has a chain link that slides down over the hinge to stop it moving,fairly good and sturdy when locked in place.

Is this table strong enough for a sewing machine to be able to use for making clothes. Will it be strong enough. Thank you

Very much doubt it, ideal for car boot sale, playing table tennis and use as outdoor table, but sewing machines are so heavy, this table is of fold up design. Only way would be to reinforce the legs, or purely use the top secured on something
