Great product and easy to install. My 1978 house has two fiberglass bathroom surrounds, one is a shower stall and the other a bathtub. I was worried about how to attach a safety grab bar on the fiberglass but with this product and the superb video and printed instructions, installation was a breeze. the most difficult part was finding the wall studs behind the fiberglass. After that, it was full speed ahead, drilling the holes and mounting the bar. There was no drywall between the fiberglass shower surround so the SolidMount was about the only option. Buy this product, it works great. Just follow the directions

I purchased 3 of these kits (for 3 grab bars) and am glad I did. Takes about an hour to install one kit for each grab bar however it is well worth it. Instructions are easy to follow (video is also available), everything works as advertised. Provides a good, strong base anchored to stud behind shower/tub unit. This is a great way to add grab bars inside a shower/tub unit.

I found the finished result to be extremely sturdy and relatively easy to install if you have a good stud finder. I would suggest location the studs before ordering the kit or kits, as i had planned to put two bars inside the shower. I ended up placing a second 12" bar against a wall at the outside edge of the front of the shower and didnt need the second kit. Another issue or my screw up I had was with the instructions: the fiberglass shower inserts themselves have some contours in relation to the the stud position. The distance between the mounting stud and the outside dimension of the fiberglass can be very different, To that point, in my case, i had to add a washer on one to bring it flush. The second mount was about an 1 1/2" deeper than the first support. The other thing i didnt do, is secure the first Solid Mount install with two screws to accurately mark and position the second mount. I used one screw. The flange covers do snap over the actual grab bar portion but by not using two screws to secure, i was 1/8" shy on one mounting plate . I think i could have corrected it by carefully removing the grabar and one support, but i didn't. The cosmetics arent terrible and the installation is extremely solid. The product itself is excellent and the instructions nearly perfect except the small caveat i describe, which for some, might not be small. I would not make the same error again but I doubt i will ever have to do it again since i am 80. In fairness to this great product I could have missed something on the instructions and this was just my experience. If i did, my apologies to Solid Mount and my review should be 5 stars.

Nice kit, good quality hardware, smart design. Due to my wall depth I needed a little more spacer depth than provided, but a few spare washers did the trick. Find those stud centers and you'll be fine - measure those 4 or 5 times to be sure.

Just had an acrylic shower surround installed in my elderly mother’s house due to a leak in her shower. Previously , she had marble tile and three grab bars . As soon as the panels were installed I realized that they flexed and wouldn’t really support grab bars . That’s when I found these mounts . They’re basically heavy duty spacers . Simple idea , implemented well. Luckily the guy who installed my shower had reinforced areas where he noticed I previously had bars. He was so happy to see these mounts and had no problem installing them. They were fairly intuitive for him to install. Don’t think he even read instructions . They absolutely work like a charm to give a solid foundation to the HEAVY BRASS GRAB BARS that I have. Perfect . Thanks for a great product. Edit: i did order an extra set at the time of purchase . Needed two sets , ordered three. It worked out very well because if i remember correctly, he ended up needing one more spacer , which he took put of the third set . Fine with me because its a seamless, sturdy, installation, And worth every penny spent on this product, even with an extra set only partially used . Buy them and maybe an extra set , also.
