Supportive with the cross straps - fine brace
After trying a different, more flimsy brand (that seems to have several knockoffs of similar quality), I tried the OSSUR brand. It's very supportive. I have a very weak ankle and sprained it badly. After several weeks of rest and using a compression brace, I decided that I needed a more substantial brace that would support my peroneal tendon and help prevent ankle rolling when going on hikes or doing some light running. This brace is great for this purpose (emphasis on "light running" - the brace is designed to keep your foot in a 90-degree flexion position, so vertical up/down/foot extension is limited). I have done light running on a treadmill and more walking, and the brace has helped me feel confident doing so - I haven't twisted my ankle once while in this brace. It fits in my gym shoes and hiking shoes - tho not so much in dress shoes - so not recommended for that. It's a bit challenging to get the brace OFF of my foot, but once you figure out how much lace to loosen, it's not horrible. Not sure how long it will last, as the materials seem like they will wear fast, but after three weeks of constant daily use, it's still holding up strong. I most like the solid braces at the sides of the ankle and the cross straps (which are key to the additional support!).

Not returnable; too loose
NOT RETURNABLE. Stuck with an ankle brace that doesn't fit.I measured my ankle, but this particular model is too loose for me. My doctor gave me another brace from this manufacturer, also XS with the same "fit" measurements, and it fit a little better.(The one that fit better was the model w/the "quick laces," ie, where they're all grouped together and you just cross them as an "X" [not this one, which has the hooks you have to go under]).

Best support brace, got first one from SMC for surgery.

Therapist recommended Amazon at about 1/3 cost.
The brace was comfortable once the laces were loosened enough to get it on. Hopefully I'll never need another one but if I do, I will purchase the same brand.
