Who needs a motor?
I have two - this 36" and a 48". Both are great for trimming. I've trimmed limbs up to 50' off the ground with these. Will say that they work best when you have another person and you all can spread out the rope that you can tie to both ends of the saw. Makes for a flatter cut with less binding. Takes a minute to get the cutters to bite but when they do - you can make pretty quick work of a trim job. Biggest limb so far - 8" diameter approx. The 48" should handle a 10"er pretty easy. Oh - both are very sturdy so don't be afraid to apply some muscle.

Excellent buy--this is one of those Amazon finds you brag about.
I bought this a couple months ago, finally got to use it on a week-long backpacking trip in the forested hills of Northeast Iowa. It worked excellently! I was actually pretty surprised how well-made it was, considering how much it cost. It was lightweight, easy to clean and maintain, and took up less space than the stupid (but awesome) compass I bought. Originally, I intended for this item to be for "just in case," since we also had a combination handheld axe/folding saw combo tool, but I ended up breaking the chainsaw out for use the very first night since I hadn't much else to do. The length was just right for my arms--I'm female, about 5'4". This was a sturdy item, and I seriously could not believe how well it got through the wood. I got carried away because I was having so much fun and I made a mid-thigh-high pile of downed branches. Thank you for setting a high-quality item for an adorable price! This is one of those good finds that keeps a user coming back to Amazon and a customer coming back to a company. Two thumbs up, and I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone looking.

A Good Buy I Can Be Satisfied With
First off, they included a ferro rod and striker. It was unexpected but very appreciated. In terms of the chainsaw, I like it. It takes some getting used to for the motion, but it is certainly effective. It's used best on something that can be parallel or perpendicular to you when you are cutting because it gets pinched very easy just by its design. There isn't any getting around that, but the chain is durable and is certainly able to withstand pinching. I do wish there were a couple more teeth on the chain, but what it has gets the job done.

I Was A Skeptic!!
I have a 23' Jameson pole pruner that I usually use for the spruce trees around my place but I had a limb that was 35' above the ground that needed to come off before I fall the tree. I don't have climbing gear so there was no safe way to access this particular limb. I thought I would give this a try thinking for the price there was nothing lose. So, I checked this out when I got it, seemed sturdy enough, well made and very sharp. I do my own chain sharpening and these were perfect as far as angle and grind. I shot a line over this limb and attached 2 50' lengths of 3/8 line to each end of the pocket saw and pulled it up and over the limb. When the first couple of pulls offered no resistance, I flipped the lines over and the chips started flying. I was really surprised when after maybe 80 see saw pulls the 4" limb came down. This thing really works and after this use, is none the worse as far as wear. Well worth it for jobs like this. I can imagine that for lower limbs or other uses closer to ground it is even better. Keep in mind if you use this for high work, you should feel resistance, hear the gravelly saw sound and see chips/sawdust flying through the air. If not, the chain needs to be flipped over. It may help to tie colored lengths of string or ribbon on the tooth side of the chain at either end.

Great idea, hard to use for high limbs
We got this to cut some limbs we can't reach with our long saw or ladder. We managed to get it to work, but not without frustration of turning the teeth against the limb and there's no way to see that high whether they're facing the right direction. We were successful in getting the limbs but haven't made use of this since.

Great buy for anyone fond of being in the great outdoors
I don't normally write reviews, but I love this product. The fire starter and whistle are what I expected and I own a few different types. The Saw though worked great on some tree limbs I needed to remove around the house. I am especially looking forward to having it with me during archery season to remove limbs that stop me from using my ladder stands in certain areas. I have put myself in awkward and potentially dangerous positions with normal saws and even pole saws. I have even tired myself out on some limbs that weren't that big in diameter because of the position and angle I had to use to remove them. I haven't used this saw on big diameter limbs but on smaller (3" - 5") I cut through with little effort and in very little time. The compact size of the saw also makes it so easy to carry as opposed to pole saws or even some hand saws. Overall I am very happy with this saw and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight and very portable saw for the cost.

Works great for cutting down tree branches.
I had an arborist that wanted to charge $700 to cut a branch down. I had 3 branches so the total cost was close to $2000. These branches were about 10" diameter, so pretty big and over the roof of my house. I decided instead to get a chainsaw blade and connect it to a rope and use that to cut the branches. I did a couple cuts each to limit the weight of the portion that dropped and also to allow it to swing away from the house. I got all the work down with no damage to house and only cost me less than $50 because I already had the chainsaw to cut up the wood. I used a fishing pole with a tennis ball on the end to toss over the area I needed to cut. I used the fishing line to pull a smaller nylon cord over which I then used to pull a thicker nylon paracord rope over. I tied both ends of the rope to the amazon chainsaw blade and then pulled it back to make the cut. I found it is better to get a chainsaw blade that is the longest you can find and has a LOWER tooth density. The chain that i had with a larger number of teeth would bite into the wood more and make it harder to cut and occasionally got stuck. I ended up buying a second amazon chainsaw blade and it worked better.

We do a lot of camping and hiking and were looking for a portable chainsaw. At this price, we thought we would try it out. It came with a fire starter and it works so fabulously. There is an outer layer on the fint which you have to scrape off to get it to spark. We had no trouble lighting the kindling and the case is protective to you do not need to worry about storage and safety. I have a video demonstrating how simple it is to use the chain saw. I really did not expect the branch to come down so quickly and with such ease. This is a must have for your hiking backpack.
