Good size grease gun for home use
Just the right size for occasional use. I use it to grease my riding lawn mower and tractor.People complaining of leaking should make sure to remove the foil cover from the cartridge completely. Any tiny particle going into the gun can cause a pump failure or leak.If it does not pump, you may have inserted the cartridge upside down. It will work either way eventually, but doing it properly makes it easier. The foil side goes to the top of the gun. The open side goes into the rubber plunger. The foil side is packed and has no air, so the suction works to pump immediately. Otherwise air has to bleed out for the pump to work, which is why some people suggest leaving the top loosened a bit at first. It can also suction load from a bulk grease container if you do not want to use a 3oz cartridge. Cheaper, but messier in my opinion. It becomes difficult to detach from a connector if you overfill. You need to stop pumping immediately once the pressure build-up is felt. This is how Zerk connector works. If it does not detach, unscrew the nozzle to relieve the pressure which will let it detach. Some grease fittings are difficult to reach. I would think most people would want to use a flexible hose with this grease gun.

It worked. Go figure
Yes it purged and yes it worked. I used a different locking grease fitting. Ok but it worked and didn’t fall apart or fail to purge air. I like it as it’s inexpensive and works. You can do much worse than this. For a light use it’s fine. Cheers.

Whether to buy depends on your expectations
I needed lithium grease for an Echo HC-150 hedge trimmer. It has a grease zerk and uses silicone grease. This item fits the bill...small, 3oz gun that comes with a tube of silicone grease. I'll probably use it once a year in this capacity. With these optics, the item performed fine. It's a cheap gun and likely cheap grease but you get what you pay for. Doesn't seem to leak and it pumps fine. Made in China (big surprise...). Overall, it's 4 stars given the use metrics. Will it hold up? Probably not. Is the grease of sufficient quality? Maybe (let's hope). I wouldn't buy it expecting more than the scenario I have described.

Worked surprisingly well.
The grease valve I was trying to access was in a very tight space and this did the trick. Initially I was reluctant to purchase questioning the quality/functionality. Since the price wasn’t going to break the bank and it was for a small job, I thought I’d give it a try and it did the trick. Very satisfied.

Handy in so many ways!
I'm an avid cyclist so have a bunch of bikes to maintain. A bike doesn't have zerk fittings but there are a bunch of areas that need the application of grease on a regular basis. The head set, bottom bracket, seat post, pedal shafts are good examples. Bearings plus rain/snow are not a good mix on any piece of equipment. Until my Lumax came, I would simply apply grease using a Q-tip, long nail, piece of cardboard, or other disposable item. Now, I can precisely put the grease where it needs to be without any fuss or muss,.I also got the Lumax injector needle for shooting a bit of grease in hard to reach places. If you've ever used a full sized lever type grease gun, there's no learning curve for this mini gun. Cock the handle, insert a tube of grease (foil end towards the top, then screw on the top after removing the foil. Release and push the cocking handle forward. Since there will probably be some trapped air in the new cartridge, it's necessary to unscrew the top cap several turns to release the air. After that, grease should flow freely when pumping. An air port to relieve the trapped air would have been a nice addition but unscrewing the top cap isn't really a big deal. I also ordered three tubes of marine grease for my use since it will literally waterproof the delicate areas of my bikes if going through rain.A further thought: before using the gun for the first time, I used some Teflon tape on the part of the nozzle that screws into the gun and on the opposite end of the nozzle that the zerk attachment is. I don't know yet if these guns are prone to leak but wanted to insure all threaded parts had a good, tight fit.

Completely worthless piece of junk
First: I have used grease guns for years and I know how they work. I ordered this one because I wanted a small one for light jobs, specifically for my 8-ft yard windmill tower. I loaded the grease cartridge and that went fine. It all went downhill from there. The miserable thing will not pump grease, period. Foolishly, I attached it to the zerk on the windmill, thinking that by some miracle it will start pumping. It would not pump.Worse yet, it would NOT let go of the zerk! Finally, it was necessary to try to force the gun to release the zerk. It would not release and the zerk was pulled out and ruined. What a waste of time this thing is! And a waste of the few bucks it cost. Now I am going to be faced with the aggravation of returning it to get a refund.Tried to contact Amazon customer service, but no luck, just automated stuff telling me to return it.Supposedly they sent a message to the seller. Who knows if I will ever hear anything from them?Seems that Amazon customer service is not what it used to be. I have been a customer for at least 15 years, and in that time I have only had two defective orders out of hundreds.
