Simplicity Creative Patterns New Look 6210 Misses' Knit Dress in Two Lengths, A (10-12-14-16-18-20-22)

If you’re thinking about getting into sewing knit fabric, this is a wonderful starting point. I used a combination of my sewing machine and serger, but you can easily sew it completely with your sewing machine. Get to know your sewing machine’s triple stitch, sew everything first with a basting stitch and then sew over the basting stitch with a triple stitch. Viola! I hacked the pattern and made a matching jacket. I also made the dress using the burrito method to make the dress reversible (inside out reversible, not back to front reversible). This will be a pattern that I use again and again.

I wanted a basic pattern for knits for my serger and this dress pattern worked well. Although the fabric cutting layouts they suggested were not great for prints, overall the pattern fit well.

Seam easy to make

It's easy up until you have to figure out how to do neck bands. I am new at this, so I had to give up and repurpose my fabric to a new project. Even after watching a few videos, I found the neck band difficult to do and confusing for such a large area (neck). Otherwise the pattern is easy to sew.

I love this pattern for a nice summer dress. It is easy to follow and read the directions. I would recommend this product for this price range.

sizing is off, V-neck is not easy. if you're curvy and using stretch knit, size UP. even the V-neck "D" pattern is super slim cut and will cling to "curves." suggest TRACING THE PATTERN and making a template first with cheapo fabric before you cut the pattern. it's really tight. ALSO, highly recommend using stretch interfacing on arm bands and neck band if you're using slippery knit fabrics. the bands are narrow so hard to cut and sew. no interfacing requirement on pattern but i'd definitely use some kind of stay tape/fusible interfacing. i will do that next time.
