Honestly bought this gate because it looks nicer than the other ones I saw available. I was pleasantly surprised that not only does it look great, but also fit well and is very sturdy. I purchased some "wall nanny" wall protectors to help protect the wall and make it more sturdy, however, they haven't come yet and it doesn't appear that we will even need them. It fits very well in our 40" opening. Some of the other comments mention that it is difficult to open which is definitely the case. You have to pull up hard and then pull/push open. My husband and I were able to manage but my 6 and 8 year old were unable to do so. We bought the gate for our new puppy not our kids so this was a problem. That being said, I figured out an easy fix! The gate locks in 3 places. All you have to do is put scotch tape on 2 of the 3 little buttons (shown in picture) and now it only locks with the thumb button closure...no need to pull up. Much easier and suits our purposes. :) Very happy with purchase! Almost gave it 4 stars because we did have to macgyver a fix to make it easier to open...but it was so easy to do and the gate looks so beautiful, ended up giving it 5. :)

Very sturdy, extremely easy to fit to doorway. I am very happy with this product. (FYI this model does not include a rubber ramp as other models do)

I bought this gate to protect my grandson while visiting in my home. I placed it at the entrance of my living room so he could not speedily crawl towards the stairs. It was easy to set up and easy to open the door to the gate. I really like that it lock closes automactically. I did not want a gate that had to be screwed into the walls. The tension holders are strong and secure. Great alternative to hardware. Definitely recommend.
