Q: Why are there holes in the sides?

If you see the black "square" near the ear region, that is actually a hole, one of each side

Q: I wear a double X Motorcycle helmet,(as a reference), will this fit my head?

I don’t know what double x size is, but my 13 yr old son - he’s about 5’8” or so - feels it’s too small. It fits on his head but it’s short and doesn’t even cover his chin. He has an older Halo helmet that looks similar- but it’s taller and fits all the way down like it’s supposed to so he was really disappointed that this one was short.
