Great stocking stuffers. My grandsons use theirs all the time. Perfect size for traveling. Easy to stores. Durable and functional. The kids love it. Super easy for even the littlest child to play with. I would definitely purchase this again. Great price.

I separated the set into individual stocking stuffers for a teenaged girl (heart), a first grader boy (oval) and a preschool girl (bear). Each one has a decorative tassel and a tuner. Instead of ordering instructions, I will let them make their own music

These mini kalimbas make wonderful, creative gifts. They were not tuned, though, at all, and sounded horrible upon arrival. Fortunately, I have a kalimba tuning hammer so I was able to fix this issue. They sound sweet when tuned properly. But if you don't have a way to tune them, you may want to skip these. They look exactly as shown in the photos, but what they do not show in the photos, is that each kalimba comes in it's own adorable flamingo gift box. These looked wonderful in the Easter baskets. They also have a neck cord and ball chain included so you can easily wear them or carry them with you. The kids loved them.

Easy,portable and fun!

This is a set of three small kalimbas. One is oval, one like a bear head shape, and one a heart shape. Each kalimba has 8 tines, to play 8 notes. These kalimbas are best for kids to hold in their smaller hands. The photo I took is my husband holding one, and you can see he had a hard time plucking just one note at a time, plus his big hands muffled the sound. A cute feature is that each kalimba comes with a simple little necklace so you can tie the end through a hole in the kalimba and carry it around. Any kid could play with this and it would not bother anyone. The tones are correct, and you can play basic songs with it. I would say this is a novelty instrument for younger kids, as a way of introducing them to basic music melodies.

They "keys" are stiff, and barely give. It is difficult to play. It makes more of a plinking sound that what we heard in videos online. They are small, and it's difficult to hold it still with both hands while trying to press the keys. Also be aware the keys are not in order of piano keys. (A B C D E... etc) They alternate.

We had a small 5th birthday party for my little dude and these were perfect for the little guests. I hate the cheap dollar store quantity over quality favors that I immediately put into the trash or donate and these would never fit that. Little dude plays with it in the car or at restaurants and it's not obnoxiously loud or annoying in the least. HIGHLY recommend as a great attention keeper for littles.
