Thoughtfully written.
This book is a wonderful tool for helping you sort out your own personal values. Marc articulates himself well and has put together a powerful resource with user friendly processes that will take you deeper into figuring out what you are about and what is important to you in this life. What I love most about this book is that the author has personally walked through all of it and used these steps to identify his own core values, with success.I highly recommend it and believe all the good stuff packed inside this little book will benefit you greatly. Enjoy!

The right core value book for a Christian (This is NOT a non-faith-based core value guide)
This is not a general core value guide. This is a Christian core value guide written for Biblical Jesus-believing Christians only. This book seems like it would be a pretty fast read. It is a basic core value discovery guide with God, Jesus, and Christian principals woven through-out. Everything comes back to a specific type of Christian faith-base for this writer, which is wonderful if you are a Christian and that is what you are looking for (hence the 4 stars, as I'm sure this is the perfect basic tool/guide for the writer's base audience, Christians). However, the description does not make this clear enough in my opinion. I felt that the author is attempting to target a wider audience than faith-based, offering in the "you will learn" list, "If you are a follower of Jesus, how your core values connect with your spiritual journey." This is misleading.I thought this meant that there would be a section that guided Christians on how to connect their values to their spiritual journey (there is, if you are wanting that). I especially thought this as the book description only mentions God in the line "By discovering and naming these essential motivations, you can begin to align your life with who God made you to be."Allow me to be clear:-Belief in the Christian God is the basis of this value guide.-All examples through-out the book tie directly to a specific Christian perspective.-Biblical scriptures are quoted through-out the book.-Everything relates back to the author’s relationship with Christ and the author’s desire to live Biblical Christian values in his life.-The words church, Jesus, God, pastor, Bible, etc. occur repeatedly in the book (almost every chapter; sometimes, every page of a specific chapter).-The values, like redemption and forgiveness, which are talked about in examples are used from a specific Christian point-of-view.-There are notes to Christians and writing prompts specifically for Christians to use to weave their spirituality and values together.Which is perfect, for a Christian.I read the description and the reviews. I did not look into the author when purchasing the book. The author’s page makes it clear that his only perspective is Christian. So, again, if you are a Christian, this is totally for you.I was looking for a clear and direct guide to helping my clients discover their core values and create implementation of those values into their lives. What I read of this book, it seemed to fit. And I believe it would have if the book was not directed at Christians and, instead, included general life examples. However, many of my clients are survivors of religious abuse. Most of their religious abuse comes from the Christian church, pastors, leadership, and other “Christian” people (who perhaps would not cause as much harm if they actually put into practice their Biblical values, so maybe those individuals should read this book). This is not the book for my clients. I would never have bought this book if it was clearly marketed or if the description made it clear that all examples would be tied heavily to the Christian perspective.I would ask the author to be more clear on his target audience. This is one of those examples of how a Christian author thinks that their book works for everyone even though they talk very clearly about their specific viewpoint through-out the book. This Christian bias is harmful to many people. Likely, the author would sell out these books by being clear that this is for Christians and marketing them directly. Churches could use this book for study groups or small groups. Four stars because it seems to be the perfect value guide for Christians. Why not five stars? Because it is not applicable to other people from other perspectives and misleads in the description that it could be for others. I’m a spiritual person with a thorough Christian training and upbringing, including Bible college training, and even I would have liked this book to be more general and not so heavily tied directly to Christianity if I wanted to use it for myself, which I kind-of would. Because it is simply written and direct.Well done, Marc Alan Schelske, on your Christian core values book. Be clear with your market. Put some clearly Christian symbols on your cover. Market directly to other churches and pastors. Run some ads. The Christian church needs this book, but they need to know it is for them. And maybe using some examples about the value of love and how to be accepting instead of judgmental might serve the Church of today well?

Great Reading!!
This book was purchased to use in a class that I was enrolled entitled Personal Values and Organizational Ethics. This was an ideal text for the course and allowed me to understand my personal core values and how other's view me as an individual. Each assignment in the text offered great insight in discovering what motivates me and how my core values are used in everyday living situations. The text is spiritually written and allows me to understand how God is the motivator of my personal. professional an spiritual being. I am now able to understand and accept me for who I am and what I value in life through using this text. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand how your core values are centered around your daily living.

Great read. Valuable tools for self growth.
Well thought out and authentic. Easy to follow step by step guide to peel back the layers of outward perception of self as you seek your truth. Marc walks you through each step and sets the book up for the reader to take at their own pace. Would also work great as a tool for small groups.
