"Here comes the FUZZ !!! "
I first saw "FUZZ" in the theater soon after it was first released in the spring of 1972. I was was 16 at the time. Well, I'm 67 now and I got on DVD and I appreciate it even more. "Fuzz" is a slang term that came about in the '60's referring to the police. The movie takes place in Boston and stars a then relatively unknown Burt Reynolds along with Jack Weston, Tom Skerritt, James McEachin, Steve Ihnat, Dan Frazer as detectives. The villain is played menacingly by Yul Brynner known as "the deaf man" who is planting bombs and extorting money from the city. This is also one of the first times we see a women playing a police officer. Raquel Welch plays an undercover cop after a serial rapist. The movie caused some controversy when it was first shown on network television, ABC. There was a subplot involving some punk teenagers pouring kerosene and setting fire on then they were called "bums" and "winos," now they're called the homeless. There were some copycat crimes. ABC never broadcast the movie again. Reynold's then lady friend, the lovely Dinah Shore sang the closing theme song. I found the flick to be an entertaining comedy/drama. The tagline for the movie poster read...."Here comes the FUZZ !!!"

Good mix of comedy and drama
Fuzz has a good mix of comedy and police drama. One minute Tom Skerritt and Raquel Welch can’t get out of a sleeping bag on a stake out. The next Burt Reynolds undercover as a bum gets lit on fire by two neighborhood kids. The cast was amazingly strong as well. Besides the three actors already mentioned Yul Brynner also starred. I enjoyed the jokes and the crime wasn’t half bad either.

What great fun.
An excellent cast that includes Burt Reynolds (Gator), Raquel Welch (Fathom), Tom Skerritt (Alien), Jack Weston (Cuba) and Yul Brynner (Taras Bulba), about an incompetent police force is an absolute riot! , Fuzz is a slick police thriller so rip-roaringly funny; it would be a crime not to see it. The cases that are involving the 87th are a few and very varied. This is a first rate cast and a first rate script from 1972. Jack Weston is hysterical. I am just going to say this....if you never saw this movie, you have to see it now. I loved it, not for the younger folks but it is terrific.

Hilarious!!!
This was an adaptation of one of a series of police novels by Ed McBain. It is absolutely hilarious!!! A perfect combination of slapstick comedy, good acting, and a well done script. The scenes of the cops trying to do an undercover bust in the park where everything goes wrong at the same time was a gem! Also, the ending with bullets flying everywhere and nobody knowing who was shooting at whom was a riot!!!If you're fan of Burt Reynolds, Yul Brynner, or any of the other fine actors in this movie then you can't go wrong buying a copy for your DVD collection.

Boston before the glitter
I love it for sentimental reasons , I was traveling through City Square on the elevated train while they filmed a scene in the rotary island and I miss the old orange elevated train. . Boston has changed greatly since this movie was made. Its no longer the dirty, gritty town it once was and that's ok , Back in the 60's and 70's there wasn't much reason to visit the town .

Reynolds and Welch Fall Flat in a Flick that Can’t Excite Past the 70’s
High hopes due to the casting in this flick led me to purchase this BluRay. Come on...Reynolds, Welch, Skerrit, and so many more...how can you miss. But this is a mess. I enjoyed it for a historical perspective...you know, 70’s cop satirical drama...but this is messy. Much more of an ensemble effort than actually having lead actors here ends up being a mishmash. Welch is lost in this, and even Burt Reynolds seems like a side player at times. There are some humorous scenes, but some of the 70’s humor doesn’t cut it anymore. More of a collectors item than great film making.

Fuzz...Typical 70's Cop Movie...But I Say That in a Good Way!
I have been lloking for this movie for a long time. I had the option of buying it on Blu Ray or DVD. I chose DVD for two reasons: One; the price was cheaper, and Two; I figured there would not be too much difference in the picture quality of a 1970's gritty action movie. As it is, the picture looks pretty good on this DVD. I was impressed, to say the least. As for the story, not bad, interesting at times and filled with humorous situations every now and then. As for the actors, I mean, what can you say when you have a film with Burt Reynolds, Yul Brenner, Rachel Welch, and Tom Skeritt...to name a few. Overall, I really enjoyed this film. I am a big fan of 70's movies, especially the action genre.
