Top Name Choice for Value, Quality, Accuracy, and Looks!
This is a first quality German-made metronome in a vibrant sparkly purple case. Nice loud "tock-tock" sound, simple to use and understand, accurate, runs a very looooooooong time on a single wind of the key. Personally, I much prefer mechanical metronomes for their simplicity, and the warmth and happy coziness of their sound. The tempi ranges are noted on the pedulum scale should your music not specify bpm. The winding key has a traveling home under the front cover--simply pull the key from the hole in the face of the unit and screw it onto the winding stem on the side. The screw on feature keeps the key from falling out and getting misplaced, so I just leave it screwed to the winding mechanism. I have noticed that replacement keys and pendulum weights are available online if needed, but with moderate care, even in a child's hands, this instrument should last for years and years and years. This model, the Wittner Taktell Piccolo 830, comes in 13 fabulous colors. Unless you're a basic black, silver, or ivory person, it's very hard to choose. This isn't a toy, of course, but how fun for a beginning young student to choose their favorite color: hot pink, neon green, lilac, turquoise, ruby red, bright blue, both a light and a dark brown, even a fabulous orange that reminds me of orange sherbet. And there's that "Violet Flek" which is the only color with the sparkles in the color. The 830 is light, but very sturdy and stable. It's also small enough to be easily carried in a purse, backpack, music bag, etc., or stored in a piano bench if you don't care to leave it out when not in use. To sum it up: this is real value with retro styling in brilliant or classic colors from the top (IMHO) metronome manufacturer.

Perfect
The color is lovely, which is why I wanted this metronome. I practice 30-45 minutes per day and that means I get a few days out of each wind, which is pretty cool. I think this is cute enough to be decorative and useful, which is always welcome.

Metronome Recommended
It's just what we expected, well made, easy to use. My daughter is using it daily for piano practice and it's made a noticeable difference in her playing. I would definitely recommend this product.

Hand wound metronomes are still best for learning very slow but eloquent passages
Hand wound metronomes are still best for learning very slow but eloquent passages. I've had a Taktell metronome since 1972, and it still works perfectly. This metronome was a gift for my niece, and as a clarinet student she will need it to work on those tricky syncopations.

great metronome
perfect size, good looking and loud enough. Winds up easy and goes for good while without needing rewind. Will purchase another Wittner product soon

love it
Really like It. The sound is not as annoying as other models or apps and my daughter likes the look of it, which in turn makes her actually think it's cool and use it. Pleased with my purchase, thanks

Piano
Purchase as a gift and it works but it takes time in getting used to it especially if your not used to playing to tempo.
