The books is colourful and full of pictures and fun, interesting facts and also contains activities after each chapter. In a lot of the chapters the events of ancient Greece are compared to those in the modern day making it easier for children to understand and also see the difference between these two periods in time. It also contains a vast amount of references at the end giving children the opportunity to delve more into these areas of history. Would 100% recommend! Review: A CHILDREN’S GUIDE TO ANCIENT GREECE - This is an excellent introduction to Ancient Greece, not too detailed, as it is specifically targeting a younger audience. This book provides the reader with an opportunity to test the subject and if it captures their imagination they can follow up the subject in more detail later on. Well done, Captivating History for creating a reference book for the children.

Most enjoyable for young & mature minds
I thought this book covered a lot of information in a fun and informative way, it has fabulous fonts (Typeface) throughout as well as some nice illustrations to keep the reader enthralled while learning many facts about Ancient Greece long the way. Everything from the warring nations Greece faced or attacked during the ages to the love of their gods to the famous Greek people who shaped history which has left their impression on our world today. Be it poetry, architecture, mathematics, stories or even the philosophical minds this book will teach you how many things came about due to the Ancient Greeks civilisation. You also learn to appreciate how the Romans incorporated and loved a lot about the Greeks art and architecture and may elements of their society were borrowed from the Greeks.

A great introduction to an ancient culture for younger readers
This well written, not too long (given its target audience) and generally very interesting. This is a great stepping stone to jump off of and explore the subject in more detail later on. Well done Cap. History - great to see a paperback book from you.

Great beginners guide to Ancient Greece.
Enough detail but not too much for younger readers, this guide provide an accessible means of introducing a difficult to understand period of history. Hopefully this little book will inspire further interest in the Ancient Greeks.

A very short introduction to Greek history for kids. Not the best.
The subjects covered are good, and sure to give kids a good grounding in Greek history. Readers are encouraged to learn more, beyond the pages of the book. Unfortunately the fully justified font, whilst clearly chosen to be more appealing to kids, is actually quite fatiguing to read. There are numerous problems with syntax, grammar, type setting and page setting which doesn't help. The graphic content consists of small photos and maps, and I don't think they're tremendously appealing to kids. Clear illustrations seem to be completely missing. Some terms have been modified to try to make them more understandable to younger readers, but I don't think this is a good idea as it simply teaches children new to the subject the wrong terminology, when the proper terms aren't really any harder to understand. In short, it's not a *really* bad book(let), but there are certainly much better options available.

It is a fantastic book for children. It has excellent pictures, diagrams, and concise historical information, and the children will expose to the history of the Cradle of Western Civilization Ancient Greece. They will learn about the Trojan War, the Athenian Democracy, the Peloponnesian War, Alexander the Great, the Hellenistic Period, and many other topics. The author has done an incredible job.

This is a great book written at an understandable level. It covers a wide number of Greek historical events, may even encourage some readers to want to dive deeper into Greek history!! I will definitely look forward to purchasing additional books in this series.

A good short and concise read on Ancient Greek for kids Would be good to have an age range suitable for this book I would suggest this would be a good read for children between grade 2 to 6 depending on the proficiency of the child. There is a section asking the reader to create their own myth on Persian War after chapter 4. In my opinion there are more ways to get children involve with creativity such as getting them to look at alternate strategy to win the war or defend the city etc. Children at that age is already full of fantasy and dreams with today's comic book make belief movies. Too much fantasy/dreaming may not be a good thing.
