Fantastic lens for the price. Paired up with my R7 I get an effective full frame focal range of 160-640mm. It is relatively light weight and compact, making it easy to carry whenever I take the camera out. My RF 100-500L is of course a better lens but it is also a fair bit bigger and I don't always want to carry that with me.Auto focus performance is really good, I have not had any issues with it myself and the same goes for the IS. IS works well enough that I can hand hold videos with the lens extended fully to 400mm and shoot at slower shutter speeds with acceptable results.

A genuine Canon lense as an addition to my new camera setup. The usual Canon build quality with smooth action and multipoint focusing and also the ability to switch to manual focus as well as stability control. This is quieter than my old EF lenses, which is a bonus for wildlife photography. Easy to change lenses, but it's slightly larger than I was expecting, having been described as a compact lens, but it's still easy to use and gives fantastic images.

dont be put off by the lower price point, this is an amazing lens and half the size of the ones i've seen other people use, AND i get better images and optical zoom than they do! i am so pleased i got this over the £1200 or more expensive lenses, ALSO its very light weight compared to the larger lenses that offer the "same" optical zoom, if you are on the edge of buying it, just buy it, i wont buy another lens for my camera with a larger zoom, dont need it, also because its smaller and lightweight its far far easier to get pictures of moving targets and stay on target easier without swinging a huuuge scope around and smacking someone in the grille! (happened to me a few times with over zealous people) honestly worth the money!

Reasonable optics, build quality is good for the price point. Lens is quite light so is easy to use without tripod. Auto steady feature is effective when using longer focal lengths. Aperture at longer lengths (F11 I think) can be a bit restrictive Not weatherproof so be careful when using in inclement conditions. All in all a great lens for the price.

I’m an amateur photographer who just started a few months ago and took this lens out for my first outing to shoot a Premier League football match. Combined with an R8 this lens delivered and more. As long as there is decent light, this lens is golden. Amazing value for money. Amazing fast autofocus and sharp pictures.

I bought this product based on many reviews I read (not just on Amazon) extolling its qualities and value for money. I have to say I have been more than a little disappointed by the image quality, particularly sharpness. Some have said it approaches L-glass sharpness, but I can only assume they either have never used an equivalent L-glass lens or else I received a very poor copy of this lens, because mounted on my R5 it never reached anywhere near that standard, even in bright sunshine. Overall build quality is plasticky but quite good and the features are excellent, and on paper at least this lens is great value for the price, if you are lucky enough to get a better copy than I did.I have decided to return my copy of this lens to Amazon for a refund. Guess I'll just have to be patient and save my pennies until I can afford the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM Lens
