Good extender for the money!
This is a nice extender for the money. We just got a new TrendNet router which is working well, but didn't go quite far enough. So we decided to order the trendnet extender. It arrived quickly. It was very easy to set up - plug it in, push the button on the router, then push the button on the extender and they were connected. It does extend the range, but it would be nice if this was a little more powerful. We have it plugged in inside and need a little more coverage outside. As soon as we get a better outlet outside, we may try moving it outside to see if that helps extend it a bit more. All in all it's a good extender for what we paid for it!

I Needed an Extender for my TRENDnet Wi-Fi Router
Not sure if any residual problems I am still having with my router is because of the router itself or the TRENDnet extender is not strong enough? It was slightly more complicated to set up than I originally expected, but thankfully my tech friend was able to lend a hand and help me get it done to work with the router, which did not have the "switch" that was in the preliminary instructions. As soon as we were done installing and setting it up, though, I immediately saw a full-bar, strong signal on my wi-fi network. Unfortunately, shortly after that, within a day or two, I lost my wi-fi signal again, and had to unplug and replug this unit in order to get it back on track...a reboot of sorts. The plug was very warm to the touch when I went to unplug it, so again, not sure what may be causing some of the remaining issues. My router is a few years old...I am considering just getting a new router and possibly returning this extender. It works strongly but it seems to be somewhat inconsistent.

Put it in your room, but not in the living room.
Don't use this to bridge two long distance wifi coverages. Based on my experiment with it, it worked better when you bridge one long distance and one short distance. For example, when I placed it in the middle of the wifi router in my living room and my desktop in my bedroom, it didn't perform as expected. However, when I put it near the desktop, it successfully enhanced the signal strength.I tested my network performance on http://speedtest.comcast.net/ with and without the device. With this device, the results showed 4Mbps FASTER download speed, 3Mbps FASTER upload speed, and 12ms SLOWER ping latency in average (note that the results aren't generalizable!). I guess the additional hop using this extender brought about the slower ping latency, but the improvement in download / upload speed is sensible. I'd take it.If you don't expect huge difference in your network performance, it's a pretty good product for the price.

Possibly useable, probebly not, check your requirements before selecting this extender
I received the package on time but had a bit of trouble getting the wireless setup installed. My computer refused to recognize the repeater's DHCP assigned IP address and I couldn't log into the admin. The microdot printing on the device's label didn't help matters either... yes that's an exclamation point on the end of the password... yes, it counts...Once hardwired to my computer, however the unit worked as advertized. The extra range it provides is great, but the inability to set a WEP or WEP password for the repeater means anyone can log into my password protected network, once the repeater is connected.I had to set up a second band, open network, with throttled data throughput, to keep my personal data private, while enabling gaming and portable device usage around the property. I'm sure the neighbors love it.

Good solution for weak wi-fi signal
Solved my weak wifi problem. When properly configured you should get a strong signal using your existing security protocol. Not as easy to configure as stated. I plugged the unit into a wall socket where it could get a strong signal from the router. I needed to plug the unit into a laptop to configure the wifi password (software to do so is included). I found that changing the settings in my router to operate on channel 6 (was set to auto) seems to work best. You will lose 50% of your speed since this is half duplex but my wired speed is 90mbs connected to the router and I am getting 35mbs at some distance from the device which is much better than I was getting from the previous weak signal without the device. This is a nice inexpensive solution for solving a dead spot issue.

So far so good
It took less than 10 min to set it up by using quick install guide. The tricky part is laptop trying to get IP address so I can get into setup menu. Using IP address does not work but use the web address. You need to wait for several minutes for your laptop to connect to the wifi extender (must be patient). When the menu is up, do the site survey, select your SSID and put the password, save and reboot and you are done. This is what you need to remember. Wifi extender will never give you same speed as your router wifi. The speed is usually cut by 50% at the extender (but depend on the distance between extender and wifi router). I have 40+mpbs from wifi router so cutting it by half the other corner of the house where I will do casual browsing will not bother me. Upload speed however were very impressive. It's almost same as wifi speed from the router. I installed it 2 days ago and it's working fine.If you want faster speed, I'll recommend powerline ethernet adapter and put access point at the end but this extender is just very easy solution.
