Works very well
A hot knife if the only proper way to cut synthetic rope or webbing. This one heats up quick and works quite well leaving sealed rope ends that will not fray or get messy.

Works on modified Weller WD-135 Solder Gun.
Modified an old Weller solder gun to accept the large (0.157" diameter) ends of the cutter tip. Tips come with ends spaced apart at 1/2" and required an adjustment to fit the solder gun 5/8" spacing. First test cut of 3/4" wide nylon web worked great.

Cheap but functions
I wouldn’t trust the product for hundreds and hundreds of cuts but for dozen times I’ve used it it seems good.

I use this to splice line all the time. It cuts clean, sears the ends of the line and makes everything look nice and clean. Love it

It works kinda sometimes but infrequently
It takes several minutes to get hit enough to cut thru nylon rope and then it takes another minute or 2 to melt thru the rope. I love the concept but there must be a more productive product than this one. I might have gotten a bad unit but not sure I’d risk getting another.

Easy to use and practical
There are cheaper cutters on Amazon (and elsewhere) but this one seems much safer and useful because the cutter is away from the power switch.
