Doctor's Best SAM-e 400 mg, Vegan, Gluten Free, Soy Free, Mood and Joint Support, 60 Enteric Coated Tablets

I tried a different brand of SAM-E about a year ago. Began having stomach cramps soon after. Tried Doctors Best and found I no longer had stomach issues. I suffer from joint pain in the legs and mild depression. Noticed a major relief in joint pain and a better state of mind with a reduction in my depression. I buy a 60-count box once a month. 2 tabs a day. While I would like to double the daily intake, forty dollars a month is the most I can afford. My honest opinion, it relieves joint pain, and puts me in a better state of mind, without getting into SSRI's or opiates. The only minus is the price.

I used this product on my veterinarian's recommendation, for my 17 year old dog who was losing his step and acting a little grumpy. Along with pain meds, this really made a difference I felt. I decided to try it myself and I was surprised when I seemed to feel my usual winter blues, so much less severely. Be aware that it takes a couple MONTHS to feel a noticeable difference. But, your body needs this anyway so it certainly will do no harm to try it. Always let your doctor and/or pharmacist know you're on it though. There's some moderate interactions mostly of the "makes this medicine slightly less effective" variety. Always look for SAM-e with the foil blister pac and make sure you're giving it without food. It's sensitive to light, heat, and moisture. I've tried a few brands and right now Doctor's Best strikes the sweet spot between reliable quality and price. This is one supplement that you really HAVE to pay for effectiveness.

I've been living with chronic back pain and several other chronic conditions for the past decade. My daughter has some of the same issues, and she recently found a Dr that determined what was wrong and prescribed a treatment program that made her much better. At her urging, I went to see her Dr, who put me through the Walsh Protocol screening. The blood test showed that I have the same problem my daughter has - a genetic defect called Undermethylation. As I understand it, the first indication of this condition is the histamine level in your blood. A normal person should score between 20 and 60, with 40 being average. My score was 79, which indicates a severe problem. My Dr is prescribing a rigorous program to address my issues, but she started me on SAM-e the day she got my test scores. I took my first dose right after waking up the next day, and within 10 minutes I could tell that I was feeling better. For the first time in my life, I am truly able to relax. I've been taking it 10 days now and feel much better in so many ways. A lifetime of tight muscles is not going to be corrected overnight, but for the first time in years I feel like I have hope of getting better. If you are considering trying this, I'd recommend you look up Undermethylation and see if you have the symptoms. I think it's extremely important for people to understand that SAM-e is probably not going to help you unless you have a high histamine score. If you have a score below 20, then you have the opposite condition - Overmethylation. If you have this, it's likely that SAM-e will make you worse. I believe this is the reason we see reviews all over the place, with some declaring it a great supplement and others saying it's worthless. It all depends on your body and what you need. In my case, there is no doubt that I inherited the disorder from my mother. She had many of the same symptoms. I told one of her brothers about SAM-e and he declared it a miracle after just 3 days of use. I hope that my review will prove helpful if you are considering trying SAM-e

I’ve taken SAM-e for 2 decades now. I used to buy exclusively Nature Made and I like it but can’t seem to find it in the drugstores anymore where I used to get it BOGO frequently so I first tried this brand at Walmart and it was always pretty good. It’s one of only 3 that consumer lab recommended in their paid report. Anyone trying SAM-e its best to get it 2-2.5 years before the expiration date, in a blister pack, enteric coated, on an empty stomach and with folic acid, b6 & b12. This one checks all the boxes at a very good price. Not all SAM-e supplements have the amount they claim. I haven’t had issue with this brand. For mood you generally need about 1200-1600 mg a day to deal with any significant depression. The only reason it isn’t a drug (since it works better than most pharmaceuticals) is that it’s naturally occurring and not patentable. So it’s an expensive supplement instead. But I highly recommend it. And I only like this one or Nature Made or Natures Bounty (but I can’t find it anymore). Natures Trove is okay in a pinch but I think this might be the best of the less expensive brands.

Well it worked for me! I discovered Sam-e while doing some research on my own and decided to give it a try for my mild to moderate depression problems. It worked for me after about a week I started to notice a difference in my mood, I had more energy, and I was able to concentrate again. A few weeks after that i decided i didn't need it anymore and went off of it and a few days later I woke up feeling terrible with the same unpleasant feelings I had before I started taking it. Needless to say that night I went to the supermarket and bought some more. Now I just buy it from amazon because I know I need it and it offers the best value. I'll happily dish out forty bucks every two months if it helps me feel like this. I will note though that at first when I was switching brands I did have some gastrointestinal discomfort that was really unpleasant at first. It lasted off and on about three weeks, but then it stopped and I haven't had it since. I changed my diet to make sure I got about the same amount of fiber everyday to try and combat those problems and for me that seemed to work. I take one 400mg tablet every morning on an empty stomach and wait thirty minutes to an hour before eating anything. One time I ate something a few minutes after taking it and I did vomit so there's your warning, they actually do mean it when they say to wait to eat. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this product and if you don't believe these reviews look up some scholarly articles on it and the research speaks for itself, I believe they actually prescribe it for mild to moderate depression in countries like Germany. I've also read that st. john's wort works too for depression problems, but I've never tried it. A warning about st. john's though it can mess with the efficacy of birth control pills so I would be cautious about st. john's wort if you're taking birth control.

This was less expensive than the Nature's Made I had been using, but I trust the brand so tried it. It is packaged well and seems to be working just as well. I take it for the help with joint problems in my knee. No side effects.
