Ol' reliable Vantec
Works wonderfully as expected. Vantecs' various types of HDD enclosures have lasted me throughout the years. Often, outlasting the life of the HDD they encase. Speed is optimal for the price. The case is also pretty spiffy compared to other designs :D

Good, reliable, and cheap
If you will be constantly swapping disks, this is not for you. For others who will keep this in place for long or not move it constantly, this is a great enclosure.I have s few of these coonected to Raspberry Pi4 running SAMBA server to have my own local file server and these work great. I have 4TB, 2TB, and 1TB WD hard drives in mine. I don't know if it's the OS or hard drive since this enclosure doesn't mention about sleep mode, but when they are not in use, I don't hear or feel anything spinning and temperature is cool. And when I connect and try to access while it's in sleep, it does take only 2 or 3 seconds to wake it up to spin up the drives vs. some other "green" enclosures which takes like 10 to 15 seconds to wake up.I've been using them for few years now (I've been using them connected to my ASUS router before I connected them to Pi4) and I see no issues and I've been very happy with them. It takes large TB drives, gives good speed, and they are reliable. You do need screws to mount the hard drive and it may feel a bit flimsy, but for my purpose(keep a drive for long and not move them around often), they've been excellent for me.

Does the job
I had a friend with an old PC that had a bad motherboard and wanted the information from the hard drive. The quality was OK for the price. I'm not sure how long it will last, but it worked fine and it was easy to use. There were cheaper ones. But cheap from China is really cheap. So this one was not quite as cheap as the other ones by price. It did have a nice aluminum enclosure, but the fit was a bit off, still.

Awesome Replacement
I had a 2 TB external that kept disconnecting. It has done it for an extremely long time; however, it became completely unusable. I used numerous ports, several cables including a new one and three different computers to no avail. Finally, I gave up and broke the casing and put the drive into this Vantec. I've always loved Vantec cases. They are extremely solid and last. I have a 2.5 external that has travelled with me for years for DJ and personal use. It never gave me a problem. The cable is something I've only seen one other time and I'm not too concerned about replacing it. Once you connect it to the driver. IT DOES NOT MOVE!!!! There is no play at the port whatsoever. You could get a brick out of an Aztec pyramid faster than disconnecting this thing. So far it's ran pretty hard for a few weeks and absolutely no issues. This is a must have enclosure.

Great External Case For SSD or HDD!
A few years back I purchased a 2 TB Seagate External HDD and the store where I got it from had them at a REDICULOUSLY cheep price. There was no question about it that I needed to get one whereas you could never have enough HDD space for all your files, folders, music, pictures, etc etc. I am a big fan of the Seagate products whereas they are usually good quality and hold up well. EXCEPT for this external HDD. the power connection port was of poor build quality and it was to a point where I would have to jiggle and fenagle around the power cable to finally make a good connection to power on the HDD. Sometimes I would get it to turn on and the without warning shut off, sometimes right in the middle of saving a file or trying to load a file or work project. Quite honestly it was becoming a huge nuisance for me. I was confident that the HDD enclosed in this external drive was in good shape and it would work if I was to mount the drive into my computer case or mount it into a new external enclosure. I decided to go with the external enclosure route to allow me to take the drive with me to my friend's house if I decided to do some file sharing/swapping to that effect. Here comes the review.I have used NexStar enclosures in the past with 2.5 HDD's that I have extracted out of dead laptop computers that I have owned and beyond pleased how good the quality of those enclosures provide. This enclosure does carry over with the overall build quality. But does lack in a very small capacity. Let me explain. The main structure of the enclosure is made from aluminum which gives it the good build quality but the end caps are made from plastic. My older models, the end caps were also made from aluminum making it a solid build. You need to take care and be mindful when closing up this enclosure not to over tighten the screws that are supplied and potentially strip out the screw mounts or possibly crack the end caps. This enclosure comes with everything you need to mount a sata HDD or SSD plus the power cord to supply the power to the enclosure. It also comes with a USB cable that supports USB 3.0 for fast transfer rates. Lastly it is one of those plug and play so your Windows based or Mac based computer will recognize it quickly. No need to install special drivers to use this enclosure. If there is any cons I can find with this case, is the endcaps being constructed of plastic composite.Final Thoughts: This is a really great enclosure to mount an HDD or an SSD to give you an external storage drive. I would recommend this to anyone needing to reuse or simple place a new drive onto your computer.
