It's a lit-up dodecahedron. When it's off, the faces are opaque, you can't see inside. Yet once it's lit, the light escapes. There are a fair number of different settings, but I prefer the ones that change. There's a wide range of colours. Very happy with it!

Firstly amazed this arrived a week early from china and intact despite rattly box (stand was missing one piece of bubble wrap but main item was fine. As usual tiny print incomprehensible manual but guessing it Works fine. Only issue is ⅓ of sides don’t have led in thrn so effect but incomplete but for a cheap Option it’s passable.

Quality is good and cycle of leds is very varied. Nice 3D illusions. It is permanently on in kitechen.

- is powered through a USB connector plugged into eg a PC - has a few different light modes that breathe, flash, cycle or respond to sounds - sound detection sensitivity can be higher or lower - comes with a remote control to change modes I bought this as a small celebratory treat for my kids and I, so I'll say first ****You should definitely not allow children to play with this unsupervised**** as there is lots of glass and some sharp edges. I put it somewhere up high and completely out of reach, and gave them the remote. It's easy to forgive the rough and ready design, because if you gaze into the middle of it, it almost looks like some sort of cosmic tesseract, and if you choose the right setting it looks like it's full of stars. We had some really interesting conversations about physics, the beginning of the universe, extra-dimensional life and so on... Then when they felt they had humoured their poor silly father for long enough they did what they really wanted to get it for - switched it to sound detection mode and danced around umming and ahhing at the light display. Fun.

Quality is mediocre, which could be forgiven but it only has one pattern of widely dispersed led bulbs. Forget about the images you see in the product gallery. You won't see such patterns with this thing.

Looks beautiful. At first was great the things you could do with it and the remote. Changing colours and so. But within about a month the remote stop working despite changing the battery. So all it does is sit on in white light. It also inadvertently begins to flash as if the power is t connecting. Plus the beginning of the lights from the cable on the inside has started to come away of it own volition. Really not worth it.
