Perfect for Homebrew or Wine making
An extra large funnel that has an insertable mesh screen filter that also reduces splashing. Very useful. I use for transferring wort to a carboy for fermentation.

Do not buy if using it in carboys - it won't fit well
While the funnel itself is well made, it does NOT fit well in 5 gallon glass carboys. The throat of the funnel barely goes down in the carboy neck, no more than an inch tops, and it is extremely wobbly when in. I am pretty sure that if I brew a batch of beer and start pouring a couple gallons into the carboy, the funnel is just going to get knocked out and I'm going to have an enormous mess (and wasted wort). This item should not be purchased if you are intending to use it in carboys (like as a primary fermenter).

Works
I've used mine when transferring wort from the kettle into the primary fermentation container (glass carboy) and it works well. It fits into the spout of the carboy and is a "no hands" operation. I did not notice any splashing from the funnel (my pouring technique was a bit messy) and the screen filter out a fair bit of hot break materials (stray pellet hops, grains, etc.). Note, I have not not used this on an All-Grain brew yet. I did not use it much until I switched to using carboys and corney kegs as my primary fermentation containers versus a plastic bucket. All in all a good easy to use, clean and sanitize tool of the trade.

no screen
I did not get a screen with my funnel as advertised. I was really looking for a funnel with a screen, I was disappointed!!!

Strainer did not fit
The strainer that came with this funnel did not actually fit into the notch made in the funnel to keep the strainer in place. The strainer was too big and made it difficult to use.

Not hands free, but can be
I got this funnel for transferring wort into a carboy for primary fermentation. The funnel only went into my 5 or 6 gallon carboys about 1/2" and was prone to tipping if bumped. My first use I used multiple layers of tinfoil to provide additional support, but I was less than thrilled with that solution. In my second use I cut off 4 inches of a blow-off tube (1" ID, 1 1/4" OD) and was able to put an inch of the funnel into the tube and almost two inches into the carboy. Now it is hands-free and I can focus on other things.

There are better anti splash funnels out there for the same price
There are better anti splash funnels out there for the same price. I bought a few different types, this is my least favorite.
