Best pencils for blending, beautiful colors
I previously owned a much smaller set of Prismacolors, and used those as my sole art pencils. I found them quite disappointing, and as a result did not do many illustrations with colored pencils. While searching on Amazon for Derwent Inkense pencils (which I also highly recommend), I came across these. I saw many rave reviews, and the 72 set was priced very low at the time, so I decided to give colored pencils a second try. I am very happy I did!! These pencils are incredibly smooth, and blend so nicely. My only complaint is that they don't come in a bigger set, because I would love more colors (even though I can blend to get them, I honestly cannot get enough of these pencils). The color selection of the 72 set is excellent, and has plenty of both bright and more natural tones. They are not really designed for detail work, however, I have been able to sharpen mine to a nice point, and do a little detailing so long as I am careful about my pressure. I completely recommend these to any artist, and also to anyone interested in using/trying colored pencils. A smaller set of these is not horribly expensive, and they are easy to blend with, and overall quite pleasant to use. The pencils themselves look nice, and the tin they come in is also very sturdy and attractive.

Great Color Pencil Set!
With the name Derwent you expect to get a great set of colored pencils and these do not disappoint. They are soft, hence the name, so they blend well and also work great with my other pencils, Prismacolors, Polychromos, Lyra, Blick, dry Inktense and FC Albrecht Durer, Marco Renior, ect. Though Derwent pencils may cost a bit more at mid range price, though less expensive than Polychromos, remember the round barrel is large at 4mm and for me I find them comfortable to hold, more so than thin hexagon pencils. They are not scratchy feeling at all and because they are soft, if your on the heavy handed side like I tend to be, you might have to sharpen a bit more if you need a super fine pointy tip. I would highly recommend these to anyone who loves this medium and would suggest purchasing here at Amazon. If you watch the price, you can get a great deal, I paid $12 more here a few months ago than the $65 price shown today. I think they are worth the investment of the extra cost than purchasing a cheaper but much less quality set of pencils, even for coloring book addicts, like any task or "job", you will find yourself enjoying it so much more, example coloring or creating a masterpiece, when you have the right tools. FYI this is my own opinion, I haven't earned the privilege of receiving free or discounted products on Amazon so I WAS NOT given these free or discounted but purchased with my hard earned money and I still would highly recommend these to the casual coloring book artist or the professional artists. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, give them a try I don't think you will regret. Happy Creating!

Beautiful soft cores.
I love colored pencils and use them for illustrations ant artistic style coloring. I purchased the Coloursoft to compliment my other high end brands. I actually purchased the 12 count set before investing in these. I love the thick cores which are very soft and creamy and the colors are rich in hue. They do well in both blending and layering and using the Derwent blender and burnisher really makes filling in areas quick. I haven't had any issues with leads breaking but because they are so soft it is hard to maintain a sharp tip. I found these do play well with Prismacolor Premiere and Faber-Castell Polychromos as well as many other sets I own. There's a few unique colors not found in other sets as well. The tin they come in is thick but the lid doesn't stay on well so I do use a large Rubberband to keep it closed when storing them. The trays are decent and not too thin or flimsy like some sets. Overall one of my top must have pencils.

The product itself is amazing. I've been using these pencils for a few years. The colors are beautiful, and blend with ease. I used these on hand crafted Christmas cards and doll repaints. The product is well worth the money. I order this set of pencils for my mom, as she has been coloring in adult coloring books. My only issue was with the shipping. Although I received this in a very timely manner, it was only wrapped in a thin bubble wrap and tape. When I opened it, the tin case was bent and taped with packing tape holding it shut (this indicated that it was obviously already damaged before shipping). I couldn't get the packing tape off, so I had to cut the tin open. At this point I thought the tin might just be damaged, but maybe the pencils would be fine and I could just find another container (kind of defeats the purpose of a nicely organized storage tin). What was inside the tin just angered me. The pencils had obviously been used. Some were shorter than others from being sharpened, and a few colors were missing having been replaced with duplicate colors. This gift I ordered through Prime, for my mom, whose birthday was in a few days, arrive a HOT MESS. I immediately called Amazon, because let's get real, during the pandemic, Amazon has been a go-to for anything and everything for a LOT of people. Out of the hundreds of items I've ordered in the past year, I've only had a handful of issues. Amazon immediately sent out a replacement that arrived the next day...it was in perfect condition and just in time for my mom's birthday. Product - 10 Shipping - 1 Amazon's redemption - 10

LOVE this set!!
These pencils are soft, smooth and easy to blend. The colors are bright & vivid. I am not a professional so I don't know all the key terms to write a professional review but as an amateur I was impressed with the colors. I wish I had chosen a larger set because there aren't many colors. However, the colors there are in the set are beautiful. Each pencil is stamped with its color and the end caps are close to the color you will get on paper. The only thing I can say may be a drawback depending on what you do with the pencils is the selection of colors. Usually I find sets that have 2 greens, 1 light & 1 darker. This set has a true green and a lime green which I find to be more yellow green with yellow being the more dominant color. Also the red is not as true a red as I like and there is no purple. In place of purple, you get a deep fuchsia which is a beautiful color but it is not purple. I am attaching a picture that I hope is helpful. If you are alright with the colors you will LOVE this set...I do.

Nice product
Great pencils, vibrant colors. Just wish they would package them better (I ordered several, which came inside the same box and they were all loose and moving around during transit). I don't find it fair to lower the rating of a product because of poor packaging, therefore I am (here) rating the product only. I really hope the pencils are not broken inside as some tips were broken.

Mixed Quality
Most of these pencils are great. They're not too soft nor hard and blend smoothly. There's a nice variety of colors, and it's not to heavy on one specific group of colors(Too many blues or greens etc.). This would be a five star pencil set, if there weren't so many with defects. I'd say about ten are defective. With most defective ones, the cores aren't glued properly. I've tried multiple different sharpeners, and it makes no difference. The cores just pop out when sharpening. I have to not fully sharpen them to a tip in order to be able to use the pencil which is troublesome for detailing. A couple defective ones have impurities in the core. I'll be coloring with pale peach and randomly draw green, because there's a bit of green in the core. I think you can imagine how infuriating that is. Most are wonderful but for a 100+ dollars, they should all be wonderful, and nearly fifteen percent of them definitely shouldn't be defective at this price.
