Excelent book, 9/10 Song selection 10/10 ease of use 9/10 price 9.5/10 Completion of information This book has both traditional sheet music, and also tablature (a simplified way of expressing notes, simply giving a hole number and an arrow telling you to blow or draw.) This is helpful, because it is easy to understand which notes to play, but also allows for more detailed understanding of *how* to play the notes. In addition, there is a wide variety of songs, mostly ones which can be considered "Classic". There are big names and small ones, as well as old ones which few people likely remmember first-hand. There is a section at the back which gives more information about notation, which can really help the beginner with playing the songs as intended. If using a Kindle or a Kindle Fire tablet, as I am, you can zoom in to the sheet music, which as far as I can tell is auto-centered when you try to zoom into it. My favorite song so far is "What a Wonderful World", by Louis Armstrong (I believe). It is surprisingly easy to play, and in just a single session I was playing the beginning parts of it well enough to be complimented by those who heard me practicing through the walls (always practice music with the door closed when you are starting out, you never know what the other people in your house will think about your fledgeling new skill). Overall a great book, would highly reccommend to any beginner, and many intermediate players looking for more songs. One final note, however. This is not a book on "How to Play the Harmonica". If you know the most basic theory, or have access to the internet to look anything up about harmonicas, this (or something similar) is the most important thing to have. Practice is more important than books for the most part, and you need songs in order to practice. As I have stated, this is an excelent tool for practice.

Great music selection, and good quality printing and binding. One thing to note is that for some songs, the bass part has been simplified. I didn’t dock a star for that because it is a book targeted at beginners after all, but if you play along with the original, you may find yourself a little lost if you try to match it note for note. A good example of this the song “If You Want Me to Stay” by Sly and the Family Stone. That song really has no business being in beginners book, but it is fun to play a strip down version, if you know that that’s what you’re playing getting into it. Highly recommended.

A great selection of songs! And, most importantly (and missing from most books of these type) is that each song has standard musical notation, harmonica tabulation (number and signals for blow or draw) and the words for the songs. I'm 'old' (60) so I wish the font was a bit larger. But, once I get my new glasses, that will no longer be a problem. Finally, I am taking one star off, because I wish it came with a CD or DVD or even an online 'play along with the songs'. A lot of 'Hal Leonard' books do Other than that, it is a great resource!

To learn to play you need something to play! This is the book to help you go from beginnings to middle level and have a lot of fun along the way. There are some lovely reviews so I won't repeat what they say but simply say that they are right. This is a great little collection and it has TAB and notation which helps you learn both or have someone else play with you. I wish they would come with a volume two or slightly harder to help you keep growing.

Great book-beginner bassist here and I love this

Unlike other Hal Leonard books, this has no included audio demo or accompaniment. Not sure why they didn't do even a downloadable audio included. Also the tunes are made very easy more on beginner level. If you're intermediate to advanced this will juat be too boring unless you use it to improv passing notes, embellishments etc. This is why I gave it 3 stars.

Great songs but all in key of C. As I have 7 harmonicas in 7 keys I was a little disappointed. Peter.

No bending, no crazy overblowing, good quality songs, simple nice lovely melodies. A real boost for a tired spirit who wants to puff out a few songs

Another great book

I found this book to be very useful, as a fairly newbie bass player it covers a good variety of music it also tells you what Key you are playing in which helps to understand that side of playing, and it also tells you the tuning for the Bass if it is different from standard tuning which helps you achieve the sound of the original recording, all round a very good book.
