Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride
Firstly, let me say that this is my third book by Kirsty Greenwood — as a side note, you should totally read Yours Truly if you haven’t already. This novel is cute and happy and fun, with a side of some pretty cringe moments for Nora. This story unabashedly leans into the fantasy of soul mates and true loves first kiss. It reminds me of Sophie Kinsella, but with more edge. It’s a great escape.I won’t say much to avoid spoilers, as there is the possibility that Gary (the could-be soulmate actor) is not who Nora finds in LA. In all, this novel is combination love story and self discovery. For me, I felt like Nora’s personal development shown through more than the romance element. Nora is grieving the death of her parents two years ago, and it has caused her to go inside of her life and shut the door. Going to LA to find her soulmate gives Nora the chance to also find herself again. There are some great side characters/new friendships. I enjoyed the journey. One thing that threw me off was that I felt like I could never get a proper image of what Nora looks like — all that was mentioned more than once was that she has massive boobs and hair like Penelope Cruz. I think what’s hard for books versus movies is that it feels like the character’s size has to be mentioned again and again to prove that the protagonist isn’t model thin, or maybe not a traditional beauty. In a movie, you can just see the character. In a book, it can start to feel rude to the woman that it has to continually mentioned that she’s not skinny, or squeezing into clothes, or what have you. I get the point — it’s meant to be inclusive. But it can be distracting and can start to feel disparaging. For those that take this into consideration, there are a good amount of f-bombs and a couple instances briefly talking about sex.

Would love to see this movie!
I have to be honest, when I read the description of the book, I thought it was going to be ridiculously stupid. Kristy Greenwood took a crazy concept and actually made it so fun and inspiring!! Loved the characters, the laugh out loud moments and the playful storyline. There are also some really serious issues addressed, but in a genuine way, that never takes away from the joyful telling of the rom com. This book totally surprised me! I honestly think it would make a great movie or series! So much fun!!

Another fabulous novel by the author
Where do I even begin. Just like with big sexy love, I read the book in two sittings. I stopped last night at 1 AM because my eyes are so bleary. But I was at it again this morning as soon as I made coffee. Her characters are just too real for words. I can relate to the heroine. I’ve had a crush on Rick Springfield but he’s married unfortunately so I I am keeping my distance while my skin gets crepey and my boobs get saggy. Her travels and her adventures and her blossoming under the California sun is another thing I can relate to after living in Southern California for 35 years. She nailed her descriptions of the Angelenos. Lots of beautiful people there. She also nailed the beauty of Southern California. The magic of swimming in the ocean and the gorgeous vistas from Mulholland Drive. I have been stalking this author hoping that she would come out with another book as charming as big sexy love and she has done it. I can’t wait to read it again tomorrow.

He Will Be Mine
3.5 StarsNora Jones is struggling. Blaming herself for the death of her parents, she’s spiraling into depression. Her sister Imogene wants to help her, and when Nora adamantly proclaims Gary Montgomery, a movie star, is her SOUL MATE, Imogene just knows Nora needs help, but first, she needs a dose of reality.Nora arrives in LA to find Gary while he’s filming a new movie just so she can see him in person and know if it’s true they are meant to be together. Every time she tries to get close to him though, something humiliating happens, leaving Nora looking crazy. This was a funny story, and I liked how the chapters alternated from Nora to Gary, but I found the coincidences between them a little much at times. One of my favorite parts of this novel were the supporting characters. Kennedy, Nora’s online friend who let’s her stay in her house while in LA, and Billy Fever, the Adam Levine tribute singing Lyft driver were awesome. I will say though, I despised Brandon, Kennedy’s brother. The ending had a fun little twist that I saw coming but still really enjoyed! Thank you to the author for my copy!

Read this, now!
Couldn’t put it down. Was hesitant at first to start it because it felt a little corny but I trust Kirsty and she absolutely effing nailed it. I love this book, whole heartedly. I read Crichton, Dan Brown, Thomas Harris, the classics, all the nail biters that get turned into big budget films - all of them. I love this writer more. She’s so damn funny. And HUMAN! I legitimately couldn’t put it down. It was wildly suspenseful and Ilaughed out loud so many times! Even more than other KG books and I wasn’t expecting that. How do I sign up to be best friends with Kirsty because clearly she is brilliant and funny and amazing?!?! Read this now. It’s her best one yet.

Super cute romcom!
This book was adorable! Hilarious, heartfelt, and both realistic and outlandish. I loved Nora’s character—so relatable! She is an extreme introvert that is socially awkward and a bit of a loner, which gave me Bridget Jones vibes. This story made me laugh out loud often. Seriously though, Kirsty Greenwood’s books have some of the best and most ridiculous humor and I seriously love it! Definitely pick this one up for a fun romcom and then read this author’s other books while you’re at it!

Exceptional
It isn't often that you find a different romance novel, but this one delivered. Beautifully written and totally unexpected... while the HEA is pretty obvious from the start, the way there is uniquely developed. Such a great read!

Absolutely Loved It
As a long time fan of Kirsty Greenwood the wait for a new book by her has been almost unbearably long but He Will Be Mine was definitely worth waiting for. It's laugh out loud funny, a whole lot crazy and pretty much the perfect bit of escapism for these difficult times. I read the whole thing more or less in one sitting as I just couldn't put it down. The premise of this book is pretty unusual, 20 something woman working as a virtual admin assistant in a small village in England decides a famous Hollywood actor is her soul mate and heads off to LA to convince him of that fact. It sounds completely unbelievable and a bit nuts, but somehow Greenwood makes it work. Yes there are some ridiculous scenes and possibly a few too many convenient coincidences but they're so funny it's easy to just go with it and enjoy the ride.Main character Nora Tucker is surprisingly relatable for a crazy stalker and there's something very likeable about her. Her somewhat hermit lifestyle, working from home, staying in reading romance novels and eating junk at the start of the story is probably very relatable to many of us living in lockdown right now and I could definitely see myself in her. There are tragic reasons why Nora lives the way she does and I really felt for her. I will admit to struggling a little with the "famous actor is my soulmate" thing but other than that she seems like a normal, nice and down to earth person. And while her trip to LA is for a slightly crazy reason I loved the way it opened her up, gave her new experiences and led to some self discovery. Her adventures in LA are absolutely wonderful and often had me laughing out loud or cringing with embarrassment for her. I loved the way the city is portrayed in the story. I've never been but the author really brought it to life and made me want to book tickets to go immediately. I also loved the different characters Nora meets along the way. Some have bigger parts than others and some are on the quirky side but all of them are memorable. It was also fantastic to catch up with a couple of characters from one of Greenwood's previous books and there's a cameo from an actual famous Hollywood actor in there too that made me giggle.I loved that as well as the chapters from Nora's pov we also got to hear Gary's side of the story. I loved the similarities between them, the near misses and how his chapters often mirrored hers. It kept me wondering if maybe, just maybe they were in fact meant to be and it wasn't all in Nora's imagination. It's definitely a story that keeps you guessing and there are more than a few unexpected twists along the way.As always Greenwood's writing is wonderful, the story is pacy and full of humour and heart. If you can't tell by now I absolutely adored it and am seriously considering reading it again. I just hope we don't have to wait so long for her next book.
