lots of useful features
This is an IP phone which means no static, wrong volume, or random touch tone noises like you get with a regular cordless phone paired with an ATA. Other advantages of IP phones include immediate display of caller ID instead of between the first and second rings, instant call initiation after dialing, a voicemail blinking light, multiple call handling, multiple account registration, and support for wideband voice quality. Other people reverted to their terrible sounding cellphones when given only desk phones, so it had to be cordless. Cordless also means it's easier to deploy where Cat6 wiring needed for desk phones is not present. The base station can be powered with either 802.3af or AC adapter. Very useful if you want to leverage an existing UPS backed PoE infrastructure to ride out blackouts or want to ceiling mount it for better coverage. Handsets charge off cradles or you can use the micro USB port on their bottoms. Opus codec is supported which is more bandwidth efficient and tolerant of packet loss than G.722 (like all CAT-iq phones it transmits G.722 over the air, so some quality loss results from transcoding G.722 to Opus and vice versa). Speakerphone function is full duplex to allow natural conversation flow. Finally it uses standard LSD NiMH AAA batteries instead of a custom NiMH pack or lithium polymer battery. No more throwing away a phone because the battery pack wore out and replacement parts approach the cost of a whole new unit! Pairing the handset to the base was straightforward, as was typing in my VoIP account credentials. Voice quality is great. Not better than a Polycom but this is half the cost of their DECT solution. You need to correct the firmware update server URL, otherwise clicking the check firmware update button is useless. There appears to be a day light savings time bug if you enable DHCP option 2 support instead of manually selecting a time zone. Otherwise I have no complaints.

Works as expected
I wish there was more to say. It has all the features I wanted. Setting up a global directory for all phones on the base unit to use is more work than it should be, but if you're comfortable downloading and uploading files from a web browser and using Notepad to edit files, it shouldn't be a struggle for you. Range and quality is great - base station is 2 floors away from some phones with no drop in quality.

Nice phone for my home based biz
The phone was relatively east to set up. Once I got info from my VOIP provided I was ready to go. The sound is good as I have some hearing loss. One of the main reasons I bought the phone was the headset jack (3.5mm). The only thing I don't like about the phone is that the sound of the phone ringing comes thru the headset so if you have the ringer set high your ears are going to get blasted out-no good. Time will tell if there any issues.

Useless!!
They don't work without a modem that you need to buy separately. I got the modem but can't login to set it up. Total waste of time n money

Great compromise between consumer wireless phones and full-blown enterprise PBX
Once you get over the learning curve of how to provision these devices, it becomes quite easy to maintain them. This phone and a compatible micro-pbx is a good way for a small business (or tech-obsessed home) to have all the features of a full-blown enterprise voice platform at a price not much higher than a single-line cordless home phone system. Build quality certainly a step up from retail/consumer phones, but not on par with the big-name brands. Only caveat: there’s a big step from consumer viop providers and commercial SIP providers. Expect to invest some time and a little hair-pulling unless you’re familiar with the terminology and practices of SIP trunking.

Terrific product, but you need a top VoiP service to make it all work
While it takes a bit to set these phones up, the result is excellent. We used Vodex Communications for our VoIP service. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a great VoIP provider. And this company is simply the best. They worked around the clock to configure these phones and my network. I would not be able to use the hardware without them. The net of this is the hardware is great but make sure you have a great VoIP provider to make everything work.

No option to have it behave like an analog multi-line phone, a possible deal breaker for non-techie users
Bought 3 handsets and the base unit to go into a restaurant. Discovered a deal breaking limitation that's a feature in a different environment - Each handset is treated like a separate phone. A "line" isn't shared between handsets like an analog phone. On an analog phone, if two handsets pick line 1 during a call, the caller and both people on the handsets can have a 3 way chat. If your on handset 1 and put a call on hold, you'll see it listed as on hold on handset 2 and can just switch to handset 2 and take them off hold to continue talking. On these digital phones, to do a three way call with 2 handsets, you actually have to CALL the 2nd handset, no differently than if you were calling another phone number, and conference them in. Putting someone on hold ONLY puts them on hold on THAT handset. To enable the call to be taken off hold, you have to "park" the call by dialing a code. And there will be no indicator on the other handsets to show that someone is parked. They have to be told. For the restaurant, training employees on complicated phone use and dialing codes just is not practical. It all has to be visual and easy and obvious. Other than that, the sound quality with RingCentral was great. The handsets use standard rechargeable batteries. The chargers are all micro-usb. The build quality felt solid. Well made good sounding very competitively priced. But without an option to select an "Analog Equivalent" mode for simpler no training needed use, it's not going to work in a restaurant. And likely wouldn't work all that well at home either unless the whole family is quite tech savvy. A little digging in the forums and I found that until recently there was a "shared" line function that worked like an analog line. But it was buggy, and from what the admins said, they just didn't see the point of it and it was removed. Like I said, this is intended as an office system with 5 individual users, not a shared system with many people using up to 5 random cordless phones.

Excellent Voip Phone
I am very pleased with this phone and its matching base station. I use it with the excellent voip.ms phone service. I did have to upgrade the base station and phone software to the latest firmware to get a dial tone issue resolved. It takes some technical knowledge to set up (firmware update requires a simple TFTP server setup on a PC). I also had to remember "hunt group" principles (which they refer to as "HS Mode") to get multiple handsets to simultaneously ring. Battery life is excellent so far. Only change I would make is to add a lighted keypad.
