Comfortable, affordable and works great.
After probably damaging my hearing from some electronic hearing protection headphones, I got these. They muffle the sound to only a small boom. Comfortable and adjustable. I care more about my hearing protection than what someone on the range is saying, so no electronic ones for me.

Peltor Sport Ultimate Ear Muffs 30NRR vs their X3A 28NRR.
Peltor Sport Ultimate Ear Muffs 30NRR vs Peltor X3A 28NRR. Both of these are 3M’s latest upgrades to their line of passive hearing protection ear muffs. They are almost identical in appearance and design, and very close in their noise reduction ratings. I bought both in order to try them out and compare them to see if there are any important differences in comfort and effectiveness in use. Note that anyone working in an environment that requires protecting sensitive parts and equipment from low voltages or static electricity will be better served with any model from Peltor’s dielectric insulated X series including the aforementioned X3A. I find both of them very comfortable to wear, even for extended periods, and have no trouble sleeping with them when my neighbor runs his heavy duty generator which produces an exceptionably strong and constant low frequency hum in the 30Hz to 60Hz range. Not that loud, but loud enough to irritate me, especially when it’s on non-stop for 24 hours or more! In fact this is the main reason that I needed to upgrade my ear muffs because my older ones, while exceptionally excellent for most uses, doesn’t attenuate the low frequencies (100Hz and below) as well as these newer designs from Peltor. FWIW my older ear muffs are the well known Clear Audio design with a very wide price range depending on the name printed on them. Mine are the Browning HDR

Great For Shooting
I have read some complaints about these ear muffs but disagree with them. I use them for shooting and they do a good job of reducing noise. They fit my large ears just fine and the spring tension that holds them on my head is not excessive. Good ear muffs for the money.

Works great but my ears hurt after
I bought these to block out construction work in my neighborhood - jackhammers at all hours, etc, while working from home. The over-the-ear model is what I'm limited to because I don't like to stick stuff in my ear canals. This tamps down the noise phenomenally. I've since used it for other days when there's serious weekend partying outside. It does its job, but boy does it grip like a 2-year old wanting attention. I have a petite head and have it at the shortest length, which works fine, but the tightness, which is what you want to keep the noise out, leaves my ears hurting after I take them off. I think it's a combo of both the tightness and the heft - this is no lightweight thing you're putting on your head. I should also point out that I wear glasses, so this thing is also pressing against the arms of the glasses and causing even that much more discomfort. It's worth it though, for the times when I need it. City living, what can you do...

Industrial Grade earmuffs
These are excellent. The fit is very comfortable first of all, their sound blockage is done right I'm confident we're getting the 30NRR advertised, there's absolutely zero sound leakage coming in cause the cups and headband are extremely well made. Versus some other earmuffs I have that are 34NRR, these blow them out of the water purely because these don't have leakage issues. Will buy more pairs in the future.

Very comfortable and quiet
Does the job of protecting you when using power equipment I've have tried at least 6 other brands and none of them compare to these. They are very comfortable and bring the db level to a safe level. You want good ones, but these.

Shuts out a lot of noise from my noisy ride on mower. Comfortable in use and allows addition of safety glasses.

Comfortable. Use them while shooting shotgun and rifle. I use them over earplugs for big stuff. Also wear them in Walmart to drown out screaming kids, makes shopping so much more tolerable.
