Dear users, which part of the machine does it seem to be the most fragile? Have you ever had to get it serviced? If so, which part was it?

I have had the machine for 6 months and no parts have failed, it seems to be well built with quality parts. The "flimsiest" parts are the drip catch tray, the grounds basket and lid, and the water dispenser all made of plastic. Use good quality filtered water to avoid lime scale build up and use de-scaler as per the instructions to help the boiler last as long as possible. I am impressed with it so far and highly recommended.

Please help me, thoughts on the oxo 12 cup and moccamaster kbt741 with features, qualilty build and coffee taste?

I have owned my Moccamaster KBT 10-cup coffeemaker for over seven (7) years and still am in love with it. It is easy to clean, easy to make coffee and never had had a problem. Do remember to keep the thermos very close to the machine so it can brew. I bought an inexpensive filter from Amazon for around $15.00 and only changed it last year because it looked old. Cleaning is a spiff. Add hot water and with the boiling water, the machine cleans itself. I do clean it every three months with a teaspoon of vinegar and hot water. The hot water comes out extremely hot and my coffeemaker looks brand new. Also, I am definitely saving money as everyone jumped the bandwagon by buying the new coffeemakers with flavored coffee cups. I buy any coffee brand that is on sale. Good luck with your coffeemaker.

Hello, yes, you can use a reusable filter in a Moccamaster. That being said, we don't recommend using reusable filters because they can change the taste of the brewed coffee for best results we recommend a white paper filter.

How long does the coffee stay hot in the carafe if you don't preheat it first?

Like most answers of this type.....Depends. If you use typical American size coffee mugs, you'll get five full cups from a pot. If there are two of you, and you drink your couple of cups while the coffee is hot, you will never have a "hot" problem. It's never an issue for my wife and me. If I had to guess, the coffee stays nice and hot for an hour or so. After that, you need to nuke your cup of coffee for about 20-30 seconds and you're back in business. Best coffee maker we've ever owned. We have two.....one in our primary home and one in our condo in the city. Wouldn't use anything else.
