My wife purchased a different watch for me for my birthday and for a Steam Train trip we were taking. That one was more expensive (but a wind up) but unfortunately broke after two days. I ordered this as a replacement for the outfit and was pleased with the quality and its ability to keep perfect time. Along with the inexpensive watch chain I bought it makes for a fashionable looks.

This is not your great grandfather‘s gold filled pocket watch obviously. It’s about 3/4 the size of the antique pocket watches. I have biggest hands, but not as big as they look in the photo.That being said, it’s good looking, and for fake gold, not bad in appearance.Unlike your grandfathers pocket watch it has a quartz movement so it keeps better time. However also unlike your great grandfather’s pocket watch it quit working after one night out. It ticked but the hands didn’t move. Turns out the “SOXDY”(?) battery in it was low.

I was frustrated because doctor's offices mostly don't have clocks in te waiting room anymore. They expect you to have a wristwatch or a smart phone with you, I guess. I gave up on wristwatches years ago; for some reason, ALL of them run slow when on my wrist (but not if I leave them at home). As for smart phones, I tend to forget mine, and if I do have it, it's hiding at the bottom of my purse. I have a pocket organizer in my purse, so I just drop this watch in one pocket and the fob in the pocket next to it, so it's easy to find and easy to get hold of but not easy for a potential pickpocket to spot or grab.What I like best about it is, it reminds me of my Grandad's pocket watch, and my Dad's that he got when he gave up on wrist watches constantly being wrecked by his work. It has an intricate design, like theirs, but prettier, and silver color instead of brass; and it runs on battery instead of having to be wound each night.And it even came in a lovely red velvet drawstring bag, so it's giftable!

My kid got this because he was interested in pocket watches. It was close to the cheapest one available. The clock hand is pretty loose and doesn’t keep up very well. He’s dropped it a few times and it completely fell apart into about 5 pieces. It’s simple enough to put back together but it still shouldn’t explode the way it does after a 2 foot drop. You get what you pay for
