EUFY Doorbell
Update: AnkerDirect saw my review below, they contacted me and have provided a replacement device, already the system is functioning at 100% of it’s capabilities, I have voice and picture and the new device fully charged within 60 mins. Well done AnkerDirect, excellent customer service, I’ve updates to 5 stars! Thank you I’ve had doorbell for 1 year. Set up was a struggle so was using it with some functions missing. But picture is good so I persevered. After 6 months got a notification to recharge, it struggled with the charger supplied in the box.. fiddled about, eventually got it to 80% after 2 days of charging, so put it back on the wall. Now down to 15% need to recharge and after 36hrs of saying it’s charging I’m on 15%. I’ve changed USB and charging unit, cleaned heads, restarted, all things they recommend on their troubleshooting. Nothing will recharge it. All in all I wouldn’t buy again.. going for a RING this time.

NOT WITHOUT ITS TEETHING PROBLEMS BUT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE
EDIT: I have changed my 3 Star rating to 4 because of ANKER's good customer service. Since writing my original review, our eufy doorbell battery deteriorated within the first week of ownership and after charging, barely made it through the night even on the most conservative of settings. After reviewing the product, eufy ANKER reached out to us. I can't fault their customer service and after they looked into the issues that we reported to them, they gave us a replacement doorbell which is so much better (so far after 17 working days the battery still shows it has 93%). So, I urge you, if you are experiencing the same battery life issues or any other issues for that matter, then contact them via the Amazon messaging service and tell them. I know there are other people who have had battery issues with their device, but there is also a lot of happy customers too. Contact the seller. ORIGINAL REVIEW: In the past we have had basic wireless doorbells with a plug in chime and a push doorbell with no camera. We saw this eufy video doorbell was on offer and so we thought we would give it a try. I'll start with the Pros: a nice, solid doorbell with pretty good video quality, quite classy looking, the chime base has an SD card for storage of any recorded events so there's no need for a Cloud Subscription (although you can opt for this if you wish). Storage is 16GB and so holds quite a bit. We wipe any recorded events after each day, which you can easily do from the eufy App. Night vision isn't bad, although obviously not as clear as day time. You can set sensitivity levels on the Motion Detection so it doesn't activate at every little thing and record someone over the road walking their dog etc. Cons: Setting the devices up is relatively easy, but definitely do as other reviewers have said and register the Chime Base FIRST. This is done via the eufy App from Google Play Store or the Apple Store. Be aware you need to then Register the actual Video Doorbell as if it is a separate device. Instructions are via the App and you follow the onscreen prompts. This is where it went a little awry! The instruction prompted us to 'Name Your Device'. It rejected every single name we put in! We even tried a name with no punctuation and no spaces, but NO! It wasn't having any of it. It just came up with an error message 'Set Failed!' It was so frustrating! A little Googling brought me to a site that came up with a tip of how to get around it. It seems many people with Android devices have had the same problem. You can't Skip that stage and so it just has you running around in circles, but if you 'CANCEL' the registration process at that point, it then takes you into the App and there you can see your devices. It seems to put in the Serial Numbers under the 'Name' section. It's then at this stage you can rename the devices with no problem. Because I had to cancel the registration process, I was a little concerned that Set Up hadn't been completed, but all seems good so no harm done! People were reporting this problem back in 2021 though and it STILL HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED! Also, the App is quite flaky! You change settings on it and 'Confirm' them but then when you go back into that section again the settings have reverted back to the original ones. It seems to keep chosen settings if you quit out of the App straight afterwards. Don't assume the battery usage symbol is correct. I was checking it and it said I had only got 28% battery power but when I went in later in the day, it had jumped up to 43%! How does that even happen? Eufy claim that the battery lasts about 6 months on a full charge with normal usage. It doesn't. Our battery charge lasted about a week, so nowhere near 6 months. To be fair, we were playing around with it to begin with, trying to get the Motion Detection sensitivity set up to suit our needs and so it may last a bit longer than a week but I really can't see it lasting 6 months. We also had an issue with the supplied USB Cable. The first time we charged the doorbell, it wouldn't charge past 60% (which is what it had been factory set to). Good old Google - yes, you guessed it! Other people have had the same issue. The suggestion was to try another USB Cable. Bingo! It worked and it charged up in no time. I was going to contact eufy about the supplied cable as I thought it was faulty but I tried it in my wife's kindle and it charges that up fine (so we've just swapped the cables). Not really good enough though is it? If the cable is supplied with the Doorbell it should WORK with the Doorbell. Teething problems aside, it's not a bad little device and it is working. Would I buy another Video Doorbell if this one packs up? No, I wouldn't. I'd stick to my basic, run of the mill wireless doorbell.

Good addition to the Eufy EcoSystem
**152 days later** Using the optimal surveillance mode, it lasted 152 days until it required charging. It captured 3668 events in total. Overall, I'm pleased with the system and the way it works. Would recommend fully. **Original review** This was an upgrade from the 1080p doorbell camera and chime. After being impressed with the 1080p, I purchased the Eufy alarm kit when it was on offer. However, to use the automation feature in the app with the other items (PIR sensors, additional cameras etc) the doorbell needed to be unpaired with the chime and added to the Homebase 2 that came with the alarm system, this in turn would render the chime redundant. So it made sense to return it and purchased this 2k add on. Overall it's a great bit of kit for those wanting a reliable doorbell without having to pay extra to save the 2am video of the fox in the front garden or the time you tripped up the front step. Everything is saved locally on the Homebase 2 and you can access this all through the app. Setup was straight forward and installation was easy. With this the option is there to hardwire it in with existing doorbell wiring and the leads and connectors you may need are supplied in the box. Straight out the box I charged it to 100% which took just over an hour from 74%, from there it was a quick change of the back plates (the 2k is annoyingly ever so slightly bigger and required a new hole drilling in the door frame, not ideal if you're a renter like me...). Be prepared to tweak the settings. A lot. The first few days the motion detection notifications can get annoying and I live in a quiet cul-de-sac... you'll need to find balance as even though the AI is good, it doesn't mean it's flawless. With the 1080p I was able to set 3 square activity zones whereas with the 2k, you get 1 hexagonal zone to form a shape. The attached image shows the weird shape I had to form (and it's night vision thrown in for good measure) but it works me. The attached video shows next doors cat which rubs against that corner a lot and it set off the motion detection, but now with the activity zone it filters out that corner. Battery life so far has been good, the attached screenshot shows it's state and that is from the 1st charge cycle. I've had it set to optimal surveillance from with all motion detection selected. All in all, a good piece of kit. An extra point goes to it's release key. With the 1080p you get a standard SIM pin tool, nothing fancy and likely to be lost, but with the 2k, you get a chunky magnet one, ideal for me as the metal consumer board is right above my door.

I purchased this video doorbell on the basis that the battery was advertised as holding a full charge for 180 days. I have my doorbell set to Balanced Surveillance, and after 12 days in operation, the battery is down to 25%. This is a big disappointment. The camera itself is good, but the Ai software picks up movement that it names as Human, when it is normal traffic outside our home. Luckily I purchased it on a Black Friday deal, and saved €50.

The doorbell camera failed following heavy rain, becoming completely unusable due to severe condensation that blurred the lens. After returning the faulty device, the customer service was appalling14 days later, I have received no refund, no replacement, and am still without a working doorbell camera, on top of that the app consistently crashing/freezing!!! The customer experience was unacceptable. Avoid this product and company at all costs!!!!!
