MECCANO, Super Construction 25-in-1 Motorized Building Set, STEAM Education Toy, 638 Parts, for Ages 10+

We gave this set to our 10 year old grandson for Christmas and he has had a great time building some of the included projects.

Over 40 years ago my dad bought me my first meccano set and I wanted to bring my nephew in on the secret, meccano - the Lego for smart kids. The set comes with instructions and you can go online for more but the real beauty of Meccano is that you can literally build almost anything. The construction is with strips and panels made from metal (some are plastic depending on the kit and its use) but metal, so it will last, really last. And those pieces are held together with nuts and bolts. So it lasts, it’s tough and it’s better for fine motor skills. Budding mechanic in the family or a future engineer? This is the toy they should have and just like other building sets, you can add to it to make bigger and better structures, cars, planes, cranes, you name it. Can’t sing this toy’s praises enough, just buy it, the recipient deserves a toy this cool from you.

I like it as well as my Grandson. I bought him a set for Christmas and my self one too. My Grandson spent 4 hours building the first project in the book. He is seven years old and the box says he should be 10 years old to play with this toy. He didn’t need any help. He’s very intelligent and independent. Sometimes I think I needed help. I got it though. I built the big crane second. I would have given a higher rating if the pictures were clearer.

Ok so these are not easy builds, they will take more than a day if you leave your child to do it on their own. I purchased these for my mechanically inclined 9 year old for Christmas. He is amazing at building things and a single build in the instruction book can take him 2-3 days spending 3ish hours per day. He has simplified quite a bit of the instructions. With all that being said the amount of pride and joy he has when he finishes a build is immeasurable.

I bought this as a gift for a 13 year old boy and he loved it a lot. Very worth it. Fun to build while working your hands and brain.

Too many toys these days can only be put together one way only or, even worse, just once. These kinds of sets can build all the premade designs or just screwed together into something new and creative. This one is well built and fun. I just wish that they sent a few more backup wrenches because we lost ours and are in a real bind! This is better than one-build lego kits and really helps build dexterity in developing hands. Get it and sit down to build with your kid!

Bought this for 2024 Christmas. Folded and gave the kids it early. Each kid has their own and are working on their second builds already. Instructions are easy for my 10 and 11 year old to understand and learn to assemble. I had one as a kid and would recommend to others for their kids to enjoy.

Everything a child would want in one handy a robust package. I think that any child under the age of 8/9 would need parental help to achieve the many models which can be made from the collection. It includes a mechanised element too.
