The Moon Cycle Cookbook: A Holistic Nutrition Guide for a Well-Balanced Menstrual Cycle

This is what I was looking for!
I ordered a couple of books on hormone balancing/understanding your cycle recently, and this one is by far the best. I've already sent it as a gift to two friends - that's how much I love it. So many "women's health" books are full of scaremongering nonsense and judgement, and make you feel like there is a massive conspiracy by the patriarchy to squash you as a woman and pump you full of chemicals and "toxins" to some nefarious end. In contrast, this book feels warm, informative, and overall actually POSITIVE about being a woman and having natural rhythms and cycles.First of all, this book doesn't make any ridiculous pseudoscience-y health claims, and it's co-written by an actually qualified nutritionist who makes a concerted and appropriate effort to note the limitations and scope of the book. They make a point to say that you don't have to be dairy-free, or gluten-free, or plant-based, or any other prescriptive type diet, and they emphasize that everyone is different and has different needs and preferences. Some of the recipes include meat, or dairy, or grains, and there's no "position" on the goodness or badness of any type of food.Second, the general overview of what happens during each phase of your cycle is informative without being overwhelming. I got just enough information (delivered in science-based, neutral terms) to make me feel like I had a better understanding of each phase, but not so much that it lost my interest or overwhelmed me, or took away from the recipe and food content.Third, there are some really sweet inclusions of ritual suggestions, ideas for what to focus on during each phase, and encouraging language around accepting and being kind to yourself. I was surprised how much I liked this part of the book.Lastly, the recipes are REALLY GOOD. I honestly wasn't expecting them to be so tasty! There is a very wide variety of dishes and flavors, and they range from sweet desserts (the hazelnut brownies are DELICIOUS) to meat and seafood dishes (salmon cakes and sweet potato beef bites). They're not too complicated and I didn't need to buy a bunch of weird expensive hippie ingredients to make them.If you're looking for a gentle, basic overview of learning and cooking/eating according to your cycle, BUY THIS BOOK. Buy it for your friend going off birth control, your friend weaning her baby, your young friend who just got her period, ANYONE who is interested in hormones and learning more about how your system works. It's really fantastic.

SUPER helpful
I have been so lost about what to eat when and how much. This book really clarifies so many mysteries for me. Hoping that it helps! I have one suggestion for the authors, if you ever come out with a 2.0, it would be wonderful if the edge of the page was color coded based on the phase so you can easily flip to the section you need to be on at that point in time.

simple, delicious and comforting
My knowledge around nutrition and your cycle is limited so I was really drawn to a book dedicated to this topic. The section is broken up by the phases of your cycle. It is wellness focused and breaks down each phase of your cycle, where your body needs more support, the types of foods that will assist with that and why. I really liked that it broke it down before going into recipes that way you could really continue to be creative in finding your own ways to incorporate similar foods. In addition to recipes there were also passages and rituals throughout the book.I was a little worried that this book would be filled with ingredients that were going to cost me more than I am usually willing to drop or ingredients I had never heard of before. Not the case. There was really just one ingredient that kept coming up that i just didn’t know enough about to want to add it to my food. I just chose not to use it. The recipes I tried were simple, delicious and comforting. I really appreciated the acknowledgment of using the book as a guide and not necessarily a strict set of rules. They discussed adapting recipes to taste and to your personal budget. It is also shared that their focus is on natural remedies but does not ignore that some things should be treated with your physician.Lastly, this book is just so pretty! It is filled with lovely pictures and formatted in a way that made me want to keep flipping through the pages. I would love to add a physical copy to my collection.Big thank you to NetGalley & Storey Publishing for a copy in exchange for an honest review.#TheMoonCycleCookbook #NetGalley.

Easy delicious recipes!
I absolutely love this cookbook! It is absolutely beautifully designed, and aesthetically pleasing. The recipes are easy to follow and affordable to make. I was already using the 28 app for balancing my menstrual cycle abs noticed how much it was helping me with the food recommendations during each phase. I wanted a book that could go more in depth with recipes, and found this book scrolling through Amazon. What I really love about this book is that it’s easy to follow, affordable recipes, lots of variety, and as someone with a severe gluten allergy I find most of the recipes to already be gluten free, or has substitutes. There’s also a lot of dairy free recipes which is a nice plus. The recipes in this book are very gut friendly! I am also pleased that they seperation the recipes by phases because it makes it much easier to go to the section I need to be on during my current phase. I highly recommend the book to anyone who wants less menstrual symptoms and wants to balance their hormones!

Game Changer
I am an herbalist in training. This book is not just recipes. Its to gain a deeper understanding of ones self. In addition to the recipes there are rituals and little nuggets of wisdom peppered throughout. The recipes are easy with most having only 4 steps or even less. The book is smaller than other recipe books which is nice.Something for everyone here, with vegan/vegetarian friendly recipes as well. They have dairy free gluten free recipes as well. Recommending this to everyone I know! Would make a great gift.
