Awesome Dance Pad for Stepmania
I have been using this dance pad for about 3 months now and play Stepmania on it at least once a week for around 30 minutes on medium to hard difficulty (7 steps is my max right now). It works quite well with no lag. Its not plug-and-play as you have to bind the keys to the dance pad in the options tab of Stepmania or any other game before playing. The cord is a good length and the material feels good although it can stick to your feet if you play barefoot so I suggest playing with socks. I play on a carpet and it does tend to move around although it depends on the song speed, the steps and how crazy you dance. It would probably not move at all or very little if it was on a hardwood floor or tile but its okay. Simply readjust the pad after every song. I do not fold the dance pad since Im sure that constant folding would mess up the pad over time so instead I hang it in my closet using one of those pants hangers you see in the stores for hanging pants on a rack (I make sure to put thick paper in between the hanger clips and the dance pad so that they dont damage or cut into the material). The box it came in was bent and ugly so Im glad it came inside an Amazon box.Overall, I would recommend this dance pad to any DDR fanatic. It may not be as cheap as I would like but its worth it for the hours of fun and exercise you get out of it. :D

Pretty solid purchase!
It seems to work pretty well! I feel like sometimes steps aren't registered but it doesn't happen too often. Otherwise its responsive and unless you are using it really hard, it won't slip. I have it on a hardwood floor and it hasn't moved a lot.If anyone is concerned that only certain Macs are supported, I'm running using it with a MacBook Pro 2015 with Mojave and I just plugged it in and it worked! Nothing fancy to get the pad working with my computer.

Perfect for modifying, works great!
I bought this pad despite the amount of negative reviews I saw on here hoping to get a good one, and thankfully I did. I purchased it with the intention of modifying it to last longer and give it more stability while playing.A 35 inch wide by 39 inch tall wooden board of 1/2 inch thickness, duct tape, 3/8 inch screws and a drill, and some foam plates of 1/2 inch thickness to sit underneath the arrows (it's great to be able to feel where the arrows are without needing to look down to reorient yourself) and some Velcro strips for the bottom to keep it from sliding around, all purchased for about $40 at home depot and I have a perfectly serviceable in-home dance pad for my game room. The buttons are super responsive, it was detected by Stepmania right away (it's not plug n' play you do need to configure buttons but that only takes a minute) and it feels like it's of a higher quality than many other pads I've played on.If you DON'T intend on modifying your dance pad it will only work for you on Novice-Medium difficulties; playing most songs on hard or above will be difficult as you will most likely get some bunching up and sliding around. The only pads for professional players are the ones we make/modify on our own or the arcade machines, anything less just won't do! All in all I'm very happy with my purchase and once my pad eventually dies or if I decide to make a second one I'll pick up this version again, good stuff.

Troubling to get Windows 10 to recognize but seems fine [Initial impression day 1 experience]
Its a pretty straightforward pad very closely resembling the generic ones you might get from the PS2 days to play at home.I miss some texture feel from the "tough" dance pad I previously had but in comparison the grip this one has to staying is place feels far stronger. It feels like it has some cushion inside it so here's to hope that it will help it last.(Seeded worries from a previous reviewer that these cushions are not fixed in place and may eventually slide around into incorrect spaces)OKAY TIME FOR SOME VERY SPECIFIC TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUES:So I play on a TV that is distant enough to warrant a USB extension cable to bridge the gap between where I want to play looking at the tv and to usb front header on my computer. The overall "out of the box" experience has had a few issues trying to get this setup consistently going.Plug and play sort of worked...for a few minutes and then it stopped responding- welp there it goes again just now as I'm writing this. I'll switch it directly into the USB port without the extension.Multiple times now (twice while playing) it has in some way disconnected into a state no longer showing as "USB Joystick" in Devices and Printers. Looking below you can see it relocated into "Unspecified" as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)."For the second time while writing this it has disconnected again I will relocate it directly to a motherboard 3.0 port. After having attempted both 3.0 ports on motherboard it will instantly default into "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" and I'm left unsure what to do about it.Online help mostly points to trying to go into device manager to update Generic USB hub which also had no different results (nor needed it as everything was found up to date).Another attempt in possibly disabling "Fast Startup" has also done nothing to prevent the pad from defaulting to its unknown state.Troubleshooting the error also had no fix found and left it in the same state. At this point I am unsure what else I can do.

Wasn't that durable
I've owned this product for six months and play on fairly difficult charts 3-5 times a day for 30 mins, but after three months, there have been some noticeable punctures within the top of the mat. I've had to duct tape a few of them down, and the pad works otherwise...but at this rate, I'll have 30% of the pad duct taped after another six months. Otherwise, it's a responsive and usable plug-and-play dance pad.
