What kind of glue do you use to put them directly on the wall?

I didn't use glue, double sided command tape works just fine.

How thick are these tiles? Can they be cut to fit a specific area? Are the edges sharp or smooth?

They are a standard thickness, I don't have one near me so I can't measure exactly, but they are like any hand held mirror. The edges were sharp not rounded. And if you have the know how and tools to do so, then yes you could cut them down. We didn't have the tools so we couldn't cut.
