Whalen Furniture Tustin Parson Solid Wood Computer Desk, Natural Oak

This item is poorly packaged. It's not Amazons issue, it is the manufacturer. It arrived with a broken drawer three times. Amazon worked with us each time but it was a pain because the desk weighs 80 pounds. The desk itself seems pretty sturdy, but is packaged in very thin foam and the drawer breaks easily. In the end we decided to do our best and glue it back together rather than ship a third desk back. I would give this one star, but the desk seems to hold up okay once put together.

I was a little concerned when the box containing the desk was delivered, because the box was pretty mangled. However, the desk survived unscathed. Assembly was very quick and easy. The laminate is a very attractive and convincing replica of oak with a slight white washing effect. The photo on Amazon is an accurate representation of the color. The desk is quite heavy and very sturdy. It has just the modern, minimalist, and slightly beachy look I was going for. It's a great value for the low price point, and I am very pleased with my purchase. I highly recommend this product.

The desk arrived in perfect condition, assembly fairly easy. The desk is heavy and looks exactly like picture, extremely satisfied nice quality.

The top came damaged, decent amount of styrofoam to protect itbut has a thin half inch sheet for the tabletop.drawer comes already built into the desk, came pretty crookedit is really to assemblebut with the poor packaging for the tabletop and the generally cheaper materials for low cost desksi would expect some form of damage on most itemsnot happy with the chunk missing from the middle of my table will have to get a new desk

Ok so I have an HP Sprout and my old desk wasn't large enough to hold the projection mat, it hung off the edge about 2 inches so I was looking at getting a new desk. So I got this desk by Whalen Furniture and man is it AWESOME! The desk is quality, this is not some flimsy piece of do it yourself 1000 pieces furniture. It comes in 5 parts, 1 desk surface assembled and 4 legs. Theres a hardware packet that contains 5 wooden dowel rods/pegs, 9 screws, 9 locking washers and 9 washers and one wrench. There is also a tube of wood glue (nice surprise) and the directions. Assembly took all of 5 minutes, the only thing I didn't do yet was turn the drawer handle around (as you can see in the pic), and I didn't do that because my screwdriver was downstairs. The desk though it's solid, the legs are almost like a 4x4, it's held together with the wood peg glued in and 2 screws in each leg, it's solid and not going anywhere. The surface looks great, it's a light/whiter color wood and overall I just love it.I have my  Sprout by HP 23-inch Full HD touchscreen Intel Core i7-4790S 8GB memory/1TB SSHD Intel RealSense 3D 1080p camera  on it and it fits comfortably, I also have my  Click & Grow Indoor Smart Herb Garden with 3 Basil Cartridges and Orange lid  in the corner. Plenty of room, it works really well and I love this desk.If you are looking for a solid, deep wooden desk get this one, you will love it.

This is better than expected. When the description said oak "look" I expected something much less, but most of this desk is solid oak. The legs are solid, not laminate. The desk top is not solid all the way through, technically, but it looks just as good, and is HEAVY, very solid. Assembly was easy and quick -- just attach the legs. Everything needed to assemble is included, no additional tools required. (All I needed was a razor to open the outside box!). They provide an extra bolt, and even a little touch up pen/marker for future use. The most notable thing about this desk is how SOLID it is. SOLID and HEAVY. It takes only one person to assemble, but two to move! I am thrilled with this purchase, and will be looking for other items in the future.

Surprisingly a very, very nice desk! This isn't the first piece of assemble-it-yourself furniture we've had, though it is one of the better. It arrived with the top part already assembled. All we had to do was attach the legs to it. We were prepared to spend an hour or so putting pieces together, but it took maybe five minutes from opening the box to standing back and admiring the hard work. Everything arrived in a huge box with more than enough styrofoam to ensure no dings or dents would take place during shipping. The instructions were super simple to follow and all the hardware necessary for assembly is included, along with a little tube of wood glue which was a nice surprise. If you add in a small dollop of glue into the screw holes before inserting the screws, when the glue dries it helps keep the screws in place and from working themselves loose over time. It's a little thing like this that tells me Whalen has put some serious thought into their products. They even attached the drawer pull to the inside of the drawer so that it wouldn't knock around during shipping and either get scratched or dented or do the same to the desk.This is a perfect desk for crafting or sewing, especially with a nice sized drawer to store extra scissors, bobbins, thread, etc. The desk is heavy and won't wobble or accidentally move any time you brush against it. It's a good height for most chairs to fit under as long as they don't have arms. Arms would bump against this and end up damaging the laminate over time. Regarding the laminate, I must say Whalen has done a great job of making sure there are no loose pieces or bad seams. It looks like real wood until you touch it, so with care and proper cleaning this desk should continue to look good for some time. I am using this desk for my multiple house plants right now as I needed a sturdy, wide, and decently tall piece of furniture to fit between two oak bookcases where the window is. This table fits perfectly in every way - height, width, even color. It looks so much better than the prior mismash that was there, and the drawer helpfully holds all the supplies like fertilizer sticks and little pruners. For the first time ever I am actually getting plants to grow (usually I kill them off no matter what I do) so I wanted something nice to show them off. My new Parson Desk does this beautifully.
