Exactly what I wanted!
Two beautiful blocks of black walnut, perfectly milled. Precise measurements in all planes. Square and with no blemishes, no sapwood. If you need small pieces of hardwood, these could not have been better.

Beautiful, except for bits of neon orange paint
Nice dense wood. Sadly, both pieces of lumber had neon orange paint on them. I had to sand them quite a bit to remove it.

Nice and planed
Nice walnut, shippers suck though. Edges got banged up a little bit . Not sellers fault. Will buy again

Great pieces of lumber
Good cuts, and great pieces of wood. Great smell, great quality lumber. If you are looking for some lumber of this size I would really recommend these pieces they are great and are a good price for the two pieces.

Significant sapwood
A significant amount of sapwood on one face and edge of this board. Luckily I’m face gluing to another board to make a thicker piece. And the edge will essentially be the top of an apron against a tabletop so nobody will ever see it. I lucked out so I can t be mad. But when you’re spending a lot for a small amount of project ready wood you expect it to be the highest quality. I personally don’t think walnut with any sapwood should be sold in this fashion but that’s just me.I also was expecting it to be 4" wide for some reason. I guess I didn’t read the item. This will also work out fine because now that I think about it 4" is probably too wide for my project. But that’s all my fault so I can’t dock stars for my illiteracy. Everything else was fine. I dodged a bullet with the sapwood but others might not be so lucky. It’s only because of my weird construction and how I am using this piece that it’s going to work fine for me.Again, when you’re buying a small piece of expensive wood that’s supposed to be project ready you’re paying for premium. 20% of a 2 x 3 x 18 board being sapwood is not premium. This board is quite small. And for it to not be completely clear is almost funny at this price. The price per board foot on these small pieces is crazy high. And s4s is worth about 50 cents per board foot at my local dealer.
