Roomba i3

Bought roomba recently after using a Chinese brand for many years. would suggest to buy a good brand this is a high wear and tear item so better if 1) build quality is good and 2) reliable availability of spares is there. Mapping function is very good and have managed to integrate this with Apple Siri also. Can just give a command and Roomba will clean whichever room you have mapped and named. Extremely satisfied with this product and think it is value for money.

Very easy to use. Smart mapping. Cleans perfectly. Better suction power. Very useful during this Corona time and always. Long battery life. Links with Alexa, easy to operate. Just one command, no need to follow it. Cleans entire house and returns to base. Very reasonable price. I strongly recommend for it.

Poor service from iRobot. The robot worked for 30 days then started misbehaving. The robot gets stuck for no reason and it fails to complete its task. The customer service it so poor, they have not even contacted after numerous complaints let alone resolve the issue.

I bought the i3 thinking it’d be an upgrade from a 2 year old 971. Turns out it wasn’t an upgrade at all. This model doesn’t come with a camera. It’s gyro based navigation is terrible. The model kept erroring out and not working. I set up schedules but it would always go into an error state and not do anything. When it did work, it’s performance was on part or better than the 971. And the original refurbishment parts are cheaper also. But it barely ever worked. Would not recommend buying.

Review after 3 months of usage: ->Does the job well. Sucks a lot of pet fur and lint from the floor. The floor feels cleaner ->Needs a set up time of 5 mins to clear the floor - chairs on top of dining table, mats off the floor, charging wires off the floor etc.... ->Cleaning the dust bin takes about 2 mins. Using a paint brush recommended . -> The side 3 fin roller got entangled on a charging chord once and broke a limb. Ordering a set off amazon now. It still limped along with 2 legs for a few rounds of cleaning. ->iRobot App is OK. Could have used a room by room cleaning function. -> Total of 16 cleaning runs. Area cleaned per charge is around 600 sft. Overall, happy with the buy.

Value for money and good service back up

This product shows unexpeted behaviour far too often. After using it for more than two months, my opinion is that my i3 is a bad buy! Many a times, it behaves like a blind folded maid servant with a broom. Usual issues: Rarely cleans all parts of the room - does not sense large parts of a big room even with few obstacles, has started making louder noise, fails to reach / get onto charging station, may / may not clean in a grid manner (as it should) even in empty areas, repeats some areas twice / thrice instead of exploring unclean areas, fine dust remains even after cleaning cycle and so on. As a result, one ends up chasing & guiding the gadget for one cycle of about 80 minutes - defeats the purpose of automation. My piece has been serviced by Roomba once & I have got excellent response from service team. However, replacement has been denied. So, if you can tolerate a below average performance and prepared to use good old vacuum cleaner or employ servant once every week, go ahead & buy it!
