Works great on diamond plate, before I raptor lined my homemade camper trailer you can really cratch at the primer once dried and it seems to really get a good bite to the aluminum. I did run out of cans and opted to buy a can of home depots self etching auto primer and you for sure would have to rough up and clean the surface as that does not at all self etch compared to this (speaking about alm diamond plate, I did use Home Depot’s when priming my Tahoe to raptor line and that did work great in that application but for aluminum I’d go with this.) but I was on a time frame but all in all seems to be a 5 star item tad pricey but if it works and I only have to do it once.. I’m happy with that. If I were doing anything other then aluminum I’d probably go with Home Depot as it has worked on plastic wood and everything else I’ve put it on and is half price.

Is it any better then any other etching primer? I dont know but required when doing a spray in Raptor liner to cover bare metal

Used this to cover bare metal and Bondo patches prior to applying raptor Berliner to the bed of my F250 Decent product but not a lot of coverage. Seems expensive for what it is. Probably would opt for Rust-O-leum primer the next time I have an auto painting project.

As you know Etching primer goes over bare metal to treat the metal for primer. I like this because it’s a nice thin spray and I can control the thickness better. After it dries a quick scratch with Scotch Brite and you are ready for primer. I use a 2k filler primer and I have never had a problem with adhesion.

when restoring a vintage truck i found that a previous owner had chome plated some parts which should have been painted. having previously used u-pol products i thought i would try this one. i rubbed down and cleaned the parts as best as possible then sprayed the etch primer. later i finished with the acrylic top coat. some time has passed and all seems ok. very happy and would suggest that if you have a "difficult " surface to paint try it.

Love this stuff and use it for bare steel as it really bonds to the panel. Best to wear a mask though as it’s quite toxic so get a good filtered mask not a rubber gimp type with a tube.
