Superb!
A captivating story of love, betrayal and redemption - well, almost.I’m not the sort of reviewer who gives a synopsis of the story. I like to offer my thoughts and views on the story and characters. This was a great story. Maybe not a new one but told with passion, emotion, love, dismay. I felt for the three characters in how their stories mingled together understanding the anger, anguish and love felt by them. This is the only book I’ve read by Susan Lewis but I’ll be finding out if she’s written any others as this is a writer who knows how to weave a story together so beautifully.

A bit repetitive.
This book could have been so much better if a ruthless editor had trimmed it down a bit. An engaging mystery, drama that played out too many similar scenes too often.

Feels familiar
Genuine question here, is this a brand new story or a reworked older one? because I kept on getting the sense I'd read it before. I read it all and enjoyed it, but it felt familiar, so if its new its very like something else i have read in the past. The only bad part is the one sentence, that had no relevance to the story, and was completely unnecessary, referencing the covid pandemic. This is fiction it doesn't need to be dated. And it surely doesn't need unnecessary, irrelevant references, just for the hell of it. And as a reader it spoils the whole book. Its not the first time, clearly this author is a good obedient, government propaganda fan. we'll no doubt be getting climate change hints in future books! I think thats it for me, i like Susan Lewis as an author, I've read most of her books, but I do not want to be propaganda-ed when I'm reading for relaxation. And its now 2 or 3 books. enough is enough.

Long Story
Took a lot reading this, as the legal side is so long winded, as it is in reality. The writer knows the Police and Legal System, all long winded and drawn out with no, "get your finger out and get on with it" to be seen. The laid back Law of this country, no rush and do!! The system hasn't got any better and is possibly worse than it was when I was a humble PC, 30+ years ago. Police Senior Officers are only interested in clear up rate and "detected" crime, a laugh if ever there was one, only interest is to charge so it is then classed as detected in the Home Office figures, which in honesty is what was going on in this book with the Police! It is extremely well written by a knowledgeable writer and has great descriptions of the Bristol and near areas. The ending was as I guessed from very early in the book, I found that sad as I hoped for a better finish. I liked the view of things from the ladies side, although I already have a male view leaning to female feelings. Just how I was brought up a very long time ago. Rights and wrongs of things. Stick with it!

First Rate Crime Thriller
Susan Lewis has produced a cracking novel that moves along at a crisp pace with unexpected twists and turns. Better than an ‘on screen’ TV drama it had me captivated from start to finish. Highly recommended.
