Great light for the owner to see the fish. Not a great coral light.
This is a good light for seeing the fish and owner enjoyment. If you are a hard core reef keeper with fancy coral you will need to get more than one to get the PAR you need. If you have a nice fish only tank and just want to see the fish this is great. I actually put it on an African cichlid tank and it works great, brings the blues out in my fish great and I like that it will run a full day and night cycle with a dawn and dusk without my intervention is great. This is not the brightest light by far, but it is also very reasonably priced for what you get. Like I said if you are a hard core reef keeper this is probably not going to make you happy unless you have a very, very shallow tank. If you don't need a bright light and want a nice light to see the fish this is a great light, best one out there in my opinion. There are many brighter ones, but they cost a lot more too. This light uses a lot of low watt LED's. It is cheaper to put a lot of low watt LEDs then fewer high watt LEDs. The problem is that the low watt LEDs don't penetrate the water as well as the high watt ones do. High watt LEDs are good for growing things, low watt lights look nice and are cheaper to build and you have more ability to use different color LEDs if you have a lot of them. The dynamic lighting modes are what sets this light apart. If you have not yet, go on YouTube and watch the videos. The modes are pretty cool. The lightening mode is the favorite of my kids and it is pretty realistic for a light with a small controller. Other LED lights out there are much brighter, but you pay more, they are harder to program and they turn the white lights on or off and the blue lights on or off. This fixture is able to vary the lights much more. It has a nice dawn and dusk feature that is fully programmable and being able to sit and watch the simulated clouds go over my fish tank is pretty fun to watch. Honest truth is that as far as the fish are concerned they don't really need any light. As long as they can find the food that is all they care about. This light is for the owner and if you don't have to grow plants or coral, why waste the money, energy and time on a higher watt light that you have to clean the algae in the tank more? Just wish they made the freshwater plus light with the controller...

It's Worth The Buy!
Amazing Light! Nice and bright, perfect for my 29gal Biocube. My fish and corals absolutely love the light, and it has helped improve the overall color and health of everything. Penetrates water nicely and has beautiful light ripples throughout the tank. I do advise turning down the lights 30%-50% and gradually bringing the LEDs back to full power over the course of a couple weeks, depending on coral reactions. You do not want to burn your corals! (At least for smaller/shallower tanks) The various modes that are available are pretty nice. Includes a few storm modes which can be integraded into the daily schedule. My tank experiences a few “clouds” throughout the day which adds a nice element of realism to the system. Each set of LEDs (RGB, Moonlight, and White) can all be controlled and changed independently which I really liked. Built in Sunrise/Sunset feature is a great way to gradually tell your tank mates to wake up or go to bed without blasting them with light or leaving them in the dark. Moonlights can be turned way down, so the light isn't too bright if you have to sleep next to your tank. A lot of reviews say the unit is difficult to program, however I did not find this to be true personally. There are a lot of features, timers, programs, etc... so read the instructions step by step and you will get the hang of it fairly easily. Very customizable, so if that is a key feature for you, this unit supplies just that! **My light was upgraded to the LOOP system for free which was a very pleasent surprise. Can control pumps and water flow all in one. Great system! Additional LOOP features help create a more realistic environment with programable water movement patters, feeding time and cleaning time modes. Bluetooth phone control coming soon via app and dongle, cannot wait for that feature!

Awesome package for the money
I purchased this light for my new 75 gallon african cichlid tank which is also relatively heavily planted with Anubias and Java Fern. So far I am very happy with it, particularly for the price. As far as I saw there is no other light on the market that provides a programmable control system for this kind of money. The light itself is not actually full spectrum but it is good enough, the combination of the individually controllable white and blue channels is enough for plants and to really make the color of the cichlids pop. The controller is really what stands out about this package for me though. You can do virtually anything with the remote and it is very easy to learn how to program it for a 24 hour cycle. You can also have 4 different programs saved that you can switch between. That is on top of the pre-programmed settings that are pretty cool to play around with. Within an hour of opening the package I had mine installed and programmed how I wanted it. Because I have Mbuna cichlids and low light plants I wanted relatively low light settings during the day for 8 hours, 4 hours of moonlight, and off 12 hours. I also customized the sunrise and sunset programs. I love it! I wish it had red channels but I'm not a coral grower so it really isn't necessary.

Good set-up, but warning, not expandable
I rarely write reviews, but this product needs it (there is a gotcha if you want to use more than one light). First, the pros. The LEDs put out a fair amount of light for their size. They will light your tank well, but if you have corals, or a deep tank, I don't believe they are enough. I LOVE the controller, its easy to program, allows 4 custom programs, and the remote control is a nice touch. My family likes the thunderstorm feature (not so sure the fish like it though. They run for cover). Con - I have a 72" 175G show tank (deep). Because of this, I expected I'd need additional lights and wanted to put one on each half of my tank. Current USA sells "TrueLumen Pro" lights in several lengths and colors, which I planned to hook up. After purchasing this set-up, I found that this Orbit Marine is 12volt (though the controller is 12 or 24). Every other light that Current sells is 24 volt, and they don't sell just the 12-volt light that comes with this kit (I wrote the manufacturer to ask). So, if this 12v setup is going to throw enough light for you, its a good purchase. If not or you're uncertain, you'll probably want to buy the reefTimer Pro separately, get a 24volt transformer, and buy the Truelumen Pros, since this product is not expandable (well, to be fair, there may be other manufacturer's 12v lights that have the same plugs. I don't know). I ended up using the reef timer pro from this kit, bought a separate 24v transformer, two power splitters and 4 TrueLumen Pros. That's working great. This left an extra 12v transformer and the light from this kit. I've plugged them into a simple AC timer and use them for a few hours of supplemental light during midday (which is not controllable from the remote and is simple on/off). I will probably put them up on ebay for sell or something though. Bottom line, nothing wrong with the 12 v light itself, it just cannot be expanded, contrary to all of the other Current USA products. That's why it lost a star for me but the product seems nice.

Worked fine... until it died less than two weeks later
I thought this was a great lamp -- not the top-of-the-line sought after by serious aquarists, but certainly better than the plain LED lamps at the big box pet stores and adequate for my needs. Setup was easy enough, and the operation and functionality was satisfactory. Complaints: - The cables from the lamp and the controller, which all connect to the hub, are all just barely long enough. Thus, mounting options are limited, and it's likely that you'll have to settle on where to mount things. - The weather effects were a disappointment. When in weather mode, it's basically night-time colors with slight flickers from the white LEDs. Seems kinda pointless. But that's fine; the normal light cycle is the most important, so I just disabled the weather effect. - The red and green LEDs are nowhere near the same intensity as the blue and white LEDs. Granted, those wavelengths also aren't quite as important for sustaining marine life as the white and blues (if I understand things correctly), but it does limit the choices in color tones unless the blue and white LEDs are turned down, at which point you're losing the "real" light and defeating the main purpose. Despite these, I was mostly happy with it. That is, until yesterday, when I found it completely dark. It seems that after less than two weeks of use in pristine conditions, it's dead. Nothing had changed since it was installed. The power supply was on, the hub had the blinking blue LED like normal, and the controller was on, but displaying "Err" on it's LCD display. No damage, nothing wet, nothing hot or stinking -- everything appeared perfectly normal, except no light and the strange error message. Nothing I tried with troubleshooting changed the behavior at all. After hours of Googling the strange "Err" message to see if anyone was talking about this issue, all I could find was that this means the wrong power supply is being used (the 24V one for pumps instead of the 12V one for lights). Well, that's impossible and makes no sense because I only have the one that came with the light, and I verified that it's 12V (even checked it with a voltmeter to confirm). I have reached out to their technical support to see if they have any ideas that will get it working so I don't have to return it, currently awaiting their reply, but I think it's a long shot. My gut tells me not to hold my breath and just order a new one (although it'll definitely be a competing product from another manufacturer).

Great LED. Good customer service. Some tips to know.
After many trial and error with different LED setups, I can draw some conclusions. I have a 100 gallon tank that has soft corals to SPS corals. This particular tank has been established for over 5 years. It went from compact fluorescent lights to T5s to metal halides and finally to LEDs. So here's a good general rule to follow when it comes to LEDs. You need about 1 watt of LED per gallon of water. Since my tank is 100 gallons, I needed about 100 watts of LEDs to get good lighting to support all coral types and to get a bright professional looking tank. One reviewer said his Current USA Marine LED was not bright enough. We'll he probably did not apply the rule as I mentioned. I previously had 2 Panorama Excotic Marine LEDs (total of 112 watts for 2 setups), but one failed after water damage. So I decided to add another LED light. So after research, I found the Current USA LED with pro timer. It has a total power of 46 watts. Since I was adding it to my current setup with the one remaining Panorama Excotic LED I knew it would suffice. My tank now looks better than before. What I like about the Current USA LED is that the timer can be programmed to simulate sunrise and sunset automatically. The Panorama had to be self dialed with adjusting knobs. (So I'm considering adding another Current USA LED and tossing my old Panorama Excotic LED.) So if you have an 80 to 100 gallon, you will need 2 of these LEDs to get that professional look or at least have some other LED to give you about 100 watts. I had the Current USA LEDs now for about a month. It did have a faulty timer when I received it, but when I contacted the seller he quickly shipped me out a new one. Great customer service. I have not had any problems since. I will update with any other mishaps.. But for now this LED met and exceeded my expectations.

Amazing features, lighting, and price!
I have a 36 bow front aquarium set up and I started to dislike how my growth was poor and how dull my tank looks. There are so many brands out there it was practically impossible to decide on which brand to get. However, there was one things that sold me to Current USA rather than the other brands, the price. If you look at the features of Current USA and the price they want, it's so good compared to their competitors. There are other brands with these feature but want anywhere from 200-400 for them. This product is amazing as it states it comes with a 24 hour on/off time, minimum/maximum intensity, and a moonlight. Do your research yourself and see if I'm lying about the competitors prices. When I received this product I opened up the box and you see all of the instructions needed to install the light. It's very basic and not difficult to install at all. The only thing that needed thinking would be the placement of the Ramp Timer Pro, as you can see from my pictures I just nailed down the housing the wall and placed the timer inside. The only downside that I can say about the timer is that it needs to see the remote IR in front of it, not underneath, left, or right. It has to be pointed straight at the timer. But I won't take off a star for that because I used Timer M3 and the light takes care of it self. Overall: - Ever since I installed this light and left the timer on M3, coraline algae as grown everywhere! I love it! - The time function is amazing as I don't have to worry about putting it on or off. - I seen people complain about the timer not working properly. Make sure you set the correct time as they are in 24-hour format. If that is still not the issue Current USA customer support is amazing and they will replace/repair it for you. - I love the fact that the light intensity changes over the course of the day and mixes the blue/white lights. - Having a remote makes it convenient to play with the light. Also, I have seen people complain about how difficult it is to manually adjust the timers with the remote. For a new person in the saltwater hobby, just use one of the four pre-installed timer as they are good at what they do. However, if you want to manually change settings, it's not suppose to be easy on a small remote. It took me around 2 weeks before I fully knew how to change everything I wanted. However, I ended up just sticking with timer M3. For the price and features that this product has, you can not go wrong with this. I would highly recommend this product.

Beware of blue light, in any fixture
The light does exactly as it says it will. The ramp features are great, and the tank looked very nice. It started out as a lot of fun. There is very little to not like about this light, except... After a month, I started to notice that my eyes were strained a lot. My life started to become a mysterious headache and some very tired eyes. I am only 42 and have never felt this before. It took me a while to deduce the reason, but it seems to be a matter of blue light. This fixture offers plenty of it, though the level of blue light can be adjusted. The problem is that when the blue light is off, all that is left is a fairly unimpressive white/yellow light that makes my 24 inch deep tank seem dim. So the product itself may be just fine, but I can no longer use it. Unfortunately, it took me more than 30 days to realize that the blue light was wreaking havoc on my eyes, affecting my ability to drive and sleep. So it cannot be returned, causing a loss for me. Again, I do not know that the blue light will effect everyone like it does me. But I have since gone to lighting that has no blue light, and my vision is back where it was and I feel safe to drive at night and enjoy life in the tank to my heart's desire. Overall, a great product if you just use your aquarium as a showpiece that you do not look at too much. For me, I enjoy sitting for a while and watching life happen behind the glass. This light came with a high price for me. I am just hopeful that the damage is not long term. I have learned that some people stare through the blue light for years and can never undo what was done. Of course, I say this without any professional medical diagnosis. I just researched until I found a possible cause, eliminated that possible cause, and the problem seems to have gone away. I ended up purchasing their higher end pro light, which allows me to eliminate the blue light while still maintaining less harmful red, green, and a much brighter white. I have been able to set this up to run blue light when I am not looking at the tank so that the plants get the full spectrum, and then I just change to another preset when I am viewing it. I just wish I would have known about the blue light issue before I flushed the first purchase. In cases like this, it would be nice if the return policy were modified. But the time and cost to get a doctor's note would probably offset that refund anyway. So the next best thing is to let you know about the issue before you make the mistake I made.
