Andrew Murray writes with purpose and intensity but in a style that is easily understandable. Each day provides insight into God's Word and His character, challenging the reader to look deeper, while months often carry the same theme throughout, building on one topic or focus. The daily readings are long enough to be thought provoking but short enough to be completed easily each day. This is a great enhancement to any study.

For years I've been "splurgin' on Spurgeon" and relishing the meat of Oswald Chambers' writings. As a life-long lover of God's Word, Bible teacher and devotional writer, I crave being mentored by seasoned saints whose encouragements and exhortations have stood the test of time. An astute friend surprised me with the gift of this devotional last October and in an instant I took to Andrew Murray as a fish takes to water. I'm a sucker for good writing and the hard-hitting truths of the Bible that "comfort the shaken and shake the comfortable," as one wag put it. This book delivers and delights. More than that, it translates groans into growth. At age 73 I was diagnosed with breast cancer last spring, had two surgeries and chemo therapy. Andrew Murray came on board - thank you, Marilyn - when I was about to discover the fascinating world of radiation. And here is my punch line: As God's well satisfied child, and well nourished by these devotional writings, I'm resolved that my life must not be about survival, but REVIVAL. That relentless desire marked Andrew Murray's ministry. Born in 1828 in South Africa, he has joined the top of my list of OLDIES, BUT GOODIES. Get hooked and be delighted yourself!

This book is filled with rich and profound teachings expounding the Scriptures. I would recommend it to the MUST READ list.

Andrew Murray's devotional books has been used every morning with and after my Bible reading for the awesome insights that come with reading a very inspired man. I know that it will deepen my spiritual roots into the knowledge of walking with God. Love it and will continue using this book for a long time to come. I am a huge fan of Andrew Murray's works, but I do not usually care for his works that have been "updated for the modern reader". Such works are usually poorly done and tend to lose the literary and spiritual impact. This devotional, I'm pleased to say, has not slaughtered the author's works. It is an accurate representation and well worth the study. The cover design of this particular edition is lacking in both appeal and modesty. However, a book cover can remedy that quickly.
