Couldn’t put it down. Really great book.

I usually love this authors books. I’m wondering if I made a mistake in “listening “ on audio rather than reading it with my eyes as the narrator was getting on my nerves with her voices.The plot was good, and what this author does well is timelines. Ones that are past and present then become entwined with each other. That was a positive thing for me.The property they move into was once owned by a Witch. Say no more.Then up to date…..someone’s gone missing……spookiness ensues.So if you are looking for spine chilling this is good, I’d say read this book with you’re eyes though.

I love this author’s books and this one was no exception. Kept me hooked until the end but I would have liked to have known how Helen and Nate got on living in the house and were there any more ghostly sightings.

Perfect combination of suspense, spookiness, multiple plots. A great read, strongly recommend especially if you haven't read her books before - you will be hooked!

💛 A fantastic (and fantastical) supernatural tale fuelled by betrayal, deceit and regret.💚 McMahon is so good at making me invest in characters. That, coupled with twists and turns, makes for a phenomenal read.💜 I have one quibble. I don’t like Olive. I know I should forgive her because she’s young and has been through so much, but I cannot.﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏SOUNDBITE🎧 Some strange choices really detract from the audiobook version. For starters, the main narrator, Amanda Carlin, speaks with very distracting intonations. I think they were going for a sort of breathy, bohemian feel, but it doesn’t work. It has a strangled quality. It’s a shame Carlin didn’t stick to her natural voice, which is smoother.🎧 Without giving away plot, one voice Carlin nails is the scary one. Freaked me out good and proper.🎧 Another oddity was the later addition of a second voice, Justine Eyre reading another character, Ann Whitcomb Gray. I say strange because Carlin reads as various characters. In fact, this is the only exception and was a bit jarring, even though Eyre was very good.🎧 A big plus point goes to the chapter listings, which are comprehensive and easy to navigate.﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏SHALL I COMPARE THEE TO...Usually I try to offer similar stories or styles, but this time, I’m warning against comparison. If you’re like me or the majority of other readers who’ve reviewed this book, this is the second McMahon book you’ve read. My advice? Don’t go into this expecting The Winter People. No, it’s not quite as brilliant, but it is very very good. A bit Salem Witch Trials, a bit Sleepy Hollow.

I could not put it down. Full of mystery, ghosts and events that keep you guessing right up until the end

Maybe I am just frustrated or something but I felt like the author hates men. They were all stupid and submissive and women were always right. Then I got angry a left the book, maybe it changes after but didn’t like the way it was so far.P.S. please don’t hate me

I received a Jennifer McMahon book for my birthday and loved it. I have now read almost all of her books!

Very good story with an amazing twist. Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire team. Its very well written
