Easy Setup and Crystal-Clear Video — Works Exactly How It Should
This doorbell was super easy to install and set up. The hardware feels solid, and once it’s wired in, the unit sits flush against the house with a clean, modern look. The app walks you through everything step-by-step, and it connected right away with no issues. The video quality is sharp and clear — even at night — and the motion detection feels accurate without being overly sensitive. The chime and notifications come through fast, and the doorbell button has a firm, smooth press that feels high quality. The doorbell feels durable while providing security and peace of mind. Overall, it works exactly the way you want a wired doorbell to work. Simple setup, great picture, and very reliable.

Love it! Upgraded from the Ring 2. Huge improvements!
I had the Ring 2 before this and it would not connect to the Router WiFi in another room, I had to use a wifi extender and for what ever reason the Ring 2 would go off line every so many days. I would have to unplug the wifi extender to reset it to get the Ring 2 to reconnect. The view range on the Ring 2 I did not like as I could not see the floor of the porch like I now can with the Ring 2 Pro. Now that I have the Ring 2 Pro, the video picture is much better, but what I love the most is that the thing has yet to go off line. It is reliable such that it catches everything as it never goes off line (at least not yet and it has been a week or so now). I also like that it loads faster in the app than the Ring 2. I have it set to take a photo every 30 seconds, which is nice and already saved me on a delivery in which the delivery app said that the driver made the delivery, but there was no motion that put the camera on at that time, but since I had the photo taken every 30 seconds I was able to provide the photos to the delivery app to prove that there was no delivery car or driver on the driveway or my porch showing photos taken every 30 seconds. Had I not had this new Ring Pro 2 that stays online and takes those photos, I would have been out $40 for that delivery. So this new door bell already has saved me $40. The motion detection range is also nice that I can have it cover the lawn and drive way, but clearly not the side walk so when people walk their dog it does not go off. But, if someone is in my lawn it will go off. I also love that this has the recording live all the time, so when it detects motion it has many seconds before the motion was detected so that I have the person coming on the drive up to the porch and can see the the entire time later. The Ring 2 I had before, at times did not have the motion detected right away and the video would come on when a delivery person was near the front door dropping the box off. This at times made it hard to see the face of the person, the video did not get them from far away. Now that I have this new Ring Pro 2, I can see the people coming from far away and since they normally do not see the ring door bell until they get close people are not looking away. This provides much better video to show police if ever needed, to see who the person that came to the door was. Huge benefit of the Ring 2 Pro. I am thinking of getting a Ring Spotlight or Ring Floodlight next with the video, but if they do not have this level of video I may get other Ring Pro 2 devices and install as this video quality and reliability is really good. The installation I had problems with at first, because the old transformer was not getting enough power to the door bell. The Ring Pro 2 takes more power than the Ring 2 did, or the battery in the Ring 2 was enough power to make up for it. The issue I had with my old transformer on the door bell power line, was that when I put the Ring 2 Pro on it, the inside door chime bell that is a old mechanical style would not ring. It did for the old Ring 2, but not for the Ring Pro 2. The Ring Pro 2 requires a power adapter be put on the mechanical chime inside or the inside Chime would make a loud buzzing noise when the door bell was rang and it would not stop for minutes, and then the chime inside kept going off every so many seconds. When I put the inside Chime power adapter back on the inside chime, it would not make the buzz sound, but it also would not ring. The app said there was low voltage, at 15v. We took off the old transformer in the basement for the doorbell, it was hooked up to a light blub socket in the basement. Very odd place to put it, and was hard to find it. Once we changed that old transformer to one for the Ring Door Bell Pro 2, it fixed the problems. The door bell rang inside on the chime correctly. The error message on the device health in the app for the voltage transformer did not go away, it still says in the app there is only 15V to the Ring Pro 2, but the direct feed from the new transformer to the Ring Door Bell 2 is direct and all the functions work perfect. No idea why the error message is still on the device health in the app, it has been many days now, it is still there, but everything works fine. The night mode, color night vision, and HDR, etc. I had to change the settings to get the best picture at night as I have a light by it that is always on and a white wall by it, so I could not get the ideal picture, but got it to work best after trying many variations of the settings. The door bell chime inside, for the mechanical bell, was also wired odd to my settings, we tried many different changes to it, but turns out that had we just changed the transformer from the start it would all worked. I would say just buy the new transformer and plan to install it with the Ring Pro 2, now having this work perfect and never going off line, and all the functions work perfect. I did not get the transformer at first and wanted to save a few bucks, but trying to do it that way caused huge frustration. If I had it all to do over again, I would replace the transformer if it is old, and or if you did not get a new one that you know for sure has the power needed to the Ring Pro 2. That way you know the power feed is correct and chances are it will save you half a day of trouble shooting as well as issues down the road if it goes off line or has trouble with the night vision video. Also, finding the old transformer may be tricky, mine was in the basement on a old light socked, but at first I was looking in the wall by the inside chime bell, it was not there. All in all this is really great new product and I do not see ever needing to change it. The old Ring 2, I had problems with from near the start. I wish I had this new Ring Pro 2 from the start.

Much improved since I tried the original model years ago.
When the doorbell first came out, I tried one. The wired version claimed to be able to ring your existing door chime. They even sent an electrician to my house to make it use that existing bell and he could not, so I returned it. I went with just an outdoor camera for a several years, but often it would not capture the person's face as it was mounted above the door and a crook would keep his head down. When I saw that this model Pro-2 stated that it absolutely WILL ring your existing door chime, I decided to give it a try. The installation was seamless. I already had the correct voltage doorbell transformer installed from the last try years ago. I also had purchased an expensive digital door chime years ago to go with the older model doorbell. The setup was the same and I had it connected in about 15 minutes. I was skeptical of course, but when I pressed the button the indoor chime began to sound and the bell worked flawlessly. The picture is very sharp. No matter how close the person stands to the door you can see them from head to toe. The picture popped up on my phone immediately when the doorbell began to ring - no lag at all like many other brands. (Now I do have 500 Mbps fiber optic Internet speed and the front door is only about 30 feet away from my router. Your Internet speed and wifi distance will make a difference). Setup was nothing. There is a QR code on the back of the doorbell so you just scan the code with your phone and it sets everything up for you automatically. I have the RING home security system and it installed the door bell and added it to my security system automatically as well in about a minute. Now the video from the doorbell is included in the videos from my other security cameras when I open the RING app for the home security system - as if by magic! I also purchased the Echo Show 5, 3rd generation. As soon as you hear the doorbell (or any other time you want) you say "Alexa show me the front door" and IMMEDIATELY there is the person ringing the bell. You can also talk to and listen to them reply if you desire. Sorry I had to wait 4 or 5 years for this doorbell to be improved to the level I needed, but I am really glad I decided to give it a try. It's more expensive than the base model, but it certainly is worth it for the bright colorful video and the amazing ease of installation and integration into my Ring home security system.

Great Video Doorbell... Not The Greatest WiFi Adapter
I have had this doorbell for over a year. Overall, this doorbell works pretty well. However, there is one key detail that seems to be missed about the doorbell and it's that the WiFi adapters are not that great. I have a router on the opposite side of my home that is able to transmit WiFi into my driveway that my S21 and other devices have a strong connection to. However, my ring doorbell has connection issues to the same WiFi 2.4 GHz band. The video quality was pretty bad to the point where I was not able to make out who was at the door most of the time, and many motion alerts did not trigger. I tried a few things such as optimizing the WiFi channel with the least amount of traffic, and using the guest network. That did not do the trick. Thankfully, the router was a mesh router, so by adding another mesh router near the door, we were able to get a strong connection to the doorbell (I also added this mesh router near the door for the ring car cam to have a good WiFi connection as well). Ring displays RSSI, or the WiFi's signal strength, under "Device Health" in the Ring app to indicate how strong the connection is to the doorbell. Prior to adding the mesh router, the doorbell's RSSI was averaging -65 to -70. After adding the mesh router, that was cut in half to -30. In normal circumstances, -60 would be completely fine. However, for a security product, this is not suffice. You really want that number to be MINIMUM below -50, ideally -30s or lower. Otherwise, you will notice the doorbell missing motion alerts and/or your video quality will suffer. Make sure to have a solution for getting a strong WiFi connection outside of the house if you are going to purchase this product, or any video doorbell for that matter. After addressing the WiFi issues, recording and activity detection were much more reliable. Voice chat also improved drastically as well, which made conversations with someone while I was away from home less annoying due to mishearing or audio cutting off here and there. The video quality itself is great and I am able to see some detail even from objects that are relatively far away. I loved that it's wired and never having to worry about replacing the battery. However, when the doorbell is in low-power mode (during non-activity) and then transitions to recording (when an activity triggers), the first few seconds of the recording suffer from low quality that can make a difference in being able to identify clear details, such as someone's face. The standard features, such as the doorbell ringing itself works fine. I've had no issues with it. However, it's interesting that it is DESIGNED that you can only ring the doorbell every 30 seconds (pressing the doorbell repeatedly will NOT ring the indoor chime more than once every 30 seconds). If you like to be bombarded with doorbell rings, this is not the product for you... unless Ring adds a toggle to the app in the future where they enable this feature. If you are able to obtain a strong WiFi connection to this doorbell, I highly recommend this doorbell. However, if you are unable to improve your WiFi connection to the outside of your home, I recommend looking at a different product that has a better WiFi adapter.

You need a 24vac transformer, no less
I:be had the Ring Doorbell Pro 2 or the Doorbell Pro as it is called now for I er 2 years. Works great and love it. Some here say it does disconnect/lose connectivity from wifi, let me tell you why as Ring techs can't even figure it out. You HAVE to have a transformer that is 24VAC, no less as 16 or 16.5 VAC will not die especially if you have a mechanical doorbell. Ring's transformer is only 16.5VSC so that won't:y work either. What happens when someone rings the doorbell or the camera is using infrared, it does not have enough voltage and shuts down for a moment then tries to reconnect. Sometimes it does and sometimes.es it doesn't. Only figured this out by chance and once I switched to a 24vac transformer, I never experienced another issue.

Next-Level Home Security and Peace of Mind
I upgraded to the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 for our home, and it’s been a fantastic addition. Installation was a bit of a project but went smoothly – I’m a reasonably handy 57-year-old and it took me about an hour. Since this model is wired, I shut off power to our existing doorbell and followed the included instructions to connect the Ring to the old doorbell wires. Everything needed was in the box (including a handy little screwdriver). Once I got it mounted and turned the power back on, the device powered up and walked me through setup via the Ring app on my phone. Within minutes, I had a clear live view of my front porch. The video quality is outstanding: sharp 1536p HD with a head-to-toe field of view. I can easily see packages left on the ground and even the expression on a visitor’s face from head to foot. The motion detection on the Ring Pro 2 is very smart. I was initially worried about getting constant false alerts from cars or pedestrians on the sidewalk, but the customizable motion zones solved that. I drew an area just covering my front walk and porch, and now I only get pings when someone actually approaches my door. It’s accurate and quick – I usually get the alert on my phone and Alexa devices a second or two before the person even rings the bell. Speaking of which, I integrated it with our Echo Show, so when the doorbell rings, the Echo automatically displays the camera feed and announces someone is at the door. My wife and I love this feature; we can politely yell “be right there!” through the two-way audio no matter where we are in the house, or even if I’m out in the yard. The two-way talk is clear, and I’ve used it to instruct delivery folks to put packages in a safe spot. They often look surprised hearing a voice from the doorbell, but it’s been really useful. One incident really sold us on the value: a few weeks after installation, late one night, we got a notification and saw someone we didn’t recognize lurking near our porch. I was able to activate the built-in siren from the app, which sent the prowler running off. The fact that I had clear video recordings of that event (with face and all) gave us evidence we passed to local authorities. If there’s any downside, it’s the subscription required to access recorded videos beyond the live view. I did opt for the Ring Protect plan after the 30-day trial because I find it worth it for the video history and advanced features. It’s an extra few bucks a month, but now I have all motion events saved in the cloud, which is reassuring. Also, since it’s wired, if your existing doorbell chime isn’t compatible, you might need to use the Ring Chime or an Alexa device for alerts – in my case I disabled my old chime and just use our Alexa speakers. All in all, this video doorbell has significantly boosted our home security and convenience. It’s like having an ever-vigilant sentinel at the door. I feel more connected and in control of who’s on my property, which is priceless for our peace of mind.

I regret investing in Ring products
Recently moved into a new home and decided to set up multiple ring cameras around my property. They all worked fine at the start, loaded decently fast, and recorded most events that I cared about. After some time I started to notice longer and longer delays anytime I tried to view my cameras, some of them wouldn't load at all. At first I thought it might be signal issues, but I'm decently tech savvy and have tried two top of the line routers that provide plenty of signal to the property. The cameras, including this doorbell, have become very unreliable. They'll sometimes start recording an event and completely freeze, missing half if not most of what happened. I can no longer view my camera if someone is at the door, it just refuses to load. I pay for the pro subscription which isn't cheap, and the whole investment in the cameras wasn't cheap either. I'm dreading having to swap them all out but at this point they're not worth keeping around. I've done some research on the issue online and it seems like I'm not the only one and nobody has gotten any useful help from the ring customer support. I'd look elsewhere if you care about the reliability and longevity of your cameras. Planning on swapping them out for some POE security cameras with local storage to avoid their overpriced subscription as well.
