Well built!
This is a fantastic flashlight and the right size to fit either a center console or glove box. A selection of features are built in; however, you don't have to change from basic function if that's all you require. Programming options is easy to do if desired and instructions are clear/easy to follow.

Great flashlight
I used it for the last couple hurricanes and I have yet to change the C batteries.

IMO, not worth the ~100% premium
Below is the review that I penned for the ML50L. This ML50LX matches ALL of that review with the addition of the nice new exterior treatment. This new treatment is EXCELLENT ... but ... IMO, it is NOT worth paying a ~100% premium for the product. So ... for the same money you can get either *one* ML50LX or *two* ML50L Maglites.=============================Back in the '70s for many years I carried a 7 C-cell Kel-lite "on my shoulder" ... everywhere. Very handy, slim, tough flashlight! In the '80s, someone at work stole it and by that time no more Kel-lites were be mfd. :(I bought a couple of the D-cell Maglites that had come out (replacing the Kel-lites) about that time, but, although they were as tough if not a bit tougher than the Kel-lites, they were not the same. Aside from the obvious increase in weight & barrel diameter, the heads were rather bulbous, so the carry-feel was not comfortable for me.I just bought a Maglite ML50L LED 3C-cell flashlight and it has brought back a lot of good memories. Aside from the shorter barrel & lighter weight, it feels much like my old 7C. They even made the head smaller so that it is very close to the head on my old Kel-lite. Comfortable hold. Also, I REALLY like the programmable switch. I have found that Function Set#3 (Momentary/Full/Eco) is perfect for me.Kudos to Maglite! :)

So far, worth the price paid.
I found this to be pricy, but the the amount of thick metal will impress you. The brightness is pretty good too, especially considering it's a low number of affordable batteries. 4 stars instead of 5 because most flashlights these days come with subtle features that allow attachment to other objects, that end up being quite useful. Usually those features are on low quality flashlights. I'd love to see something of this quality with those extra features. Battery life is reduced because they're C and not D, and also the bright LED is hungry, not so much as incandescent, but still more than most other LEDs. Worthy tradeoff though.

Classic classic maglite!!
I have had an maglight for over thirty years now. This is my first led maglite. I bought the Maglight that takes three c's batteries. solid construction. And last but not least built in California. L e d light is very bright. Would highly recommend maglight.

!!! AWESOME FLASHLIGHT !!!
This is the best flash light I have ever bought. I use it at work to check multiple rooms many times through the night. It fits nicely in a holder on my belt. Its not to heavy like the bigger mag lights and I can sit down comfortably with it on. I go through two C batteries every month and a half to two months. Compared to my last smaller fancy flashlight that was only good for a couple of weeks before it would need new batteries. Also some of my co workers have purchased flashlights well more than twice the cost of this one at specialty stores. When we compared our lights, mine with new batteries and theirs with a fresh charge. This light was just as bright if not brighter than theirs and I don’t have to constantly plug it in to a charger for it to be ready. For what I do this flashlight has a way longer working life between batterie changes for it’s size, compared to anything I’ve seen so far. Even when the batteries are getting low it still produces plenty of light to run against the other flashlights It’s been compared to. I personally rely on this flashlight every night I’m at work for safety/security reasons and that is why I do not hesitate to recommend this flashlight. If you need a good everyday dependable light, this light has been awesome for me. Thank you for taking the time to read my review, I hope it helps. FYI I use mode #4 one press is full power momentary, two clicks is full power on, and three clicks is strobe. It’s the mag light “tactical” mode. I use momentary by far the most.

Greetings from England!
There's something satisfying about stuff made in the USA. If only our laws were a little more liberal!I'm somewhat of a torch addict! I use them professionally in the emergency services as well as off duty. The amount of Chinese flashlights flooding the market make it challenging to get a decent torch. My current favourite emitters are the great sft40 and the xhp70.3 hi. Great as they are, they run very hot, throttle output to manage thermals and chew through batteries. Even finding decent 18650 or 26650 batteries from China is a task and the last thing I need is my battery dying in the middle of a job.The maglite ml50lx now sits along side my Sofirn if22a and Streamlight Stinger DS.The ml50lx has a really long runtime. It's designed to run on cheap alkaline so runtime can be extended with better cells. It has a nice 1/8 turn flood-spot adjuster which only needs a very short rotation of the head to adjust which is lovely. The button is has 4 banks which can be easily selected. Each bank has its own mode and features such as momentary-on are there. The button is a crisp, short-travel electronic type, but note this will consume miniscule amounts of power as technically the controller will always be powered up even when the torch is off. A short counter-clockwise rotation of the battery cap will power the torch down fully.Workable beam distance is 70% of my Sofirn, id say about a good 100 meters.Construction feels absolutely amazing. It's lovely and I totally dig the knurled grip pattern. Will report back on runtime. Thanks Uncle Sam,England

Perfect torch.
Have a D cell maglite, however, required a slightly smaller one for when wearing thicknwinter gloves, this C cell sized model is excellent, quality make, solidly constructed, excellent light illumination both spot and flood, 3 levels of intensity with also three modes of operation. Ease opearion on large button even with thick winter gloves on. More expensive than others however it will still be lighting your path for decades. Wonderful.
