The Illustrated Children's Bible Review: Beautiful💯 - I quirk at desertcart and stowed these. Feel in love and ordered one for my granddaughter. It's perfect. She loved it. A++ Review: Beautiful and well written - I'm very happy with this purchase. It is very artfully done and Gleason Archer is a well-respected Bible scholar who is able to simplify and summarize Bible stories in a way that children can really grasp. It's good for older children; aged 5-10 - would be over the heads of toddlers I think.

Beautiful Bible for kids

wonderful children's bible!!
I grew up on the Children's Bible by Anne De Vries (1963 edition), and I'm so glad to see that it's been republished! She makes the stories so understandable. She's sympathetic and empathetic and helps young children see the reasons people acted the way they did, why God said things and how he must have felt, and why events happened. This is a nice long Bible, with chapter breaks at good intervals for bedtime reading. My mom read to us from it before bed starting when I was about 5 and my sisters 4 and 1. After several weeks she would finish it, and move on to another book. After that book, she would ask us what we wanted to read next. Many times we asked for this Children's Bible, and she would start it again. I can't imagine a better one for kids.

Most accurate children's Bible
I am a homeschooling parent with a divinity degree from Yale Divinity School. Plus, I have a penchant for collecting children's books. I have about 15 Children's Bibles. I have to say that The Illustrated Children's Bible is the most accurate in including all the main points in a paraphrase without being misleading. If you want to check for yourself, here are two passages that you can check in every children's Bible, and most likely, they will be wrong... Genesis Chapter 1: 6th day of creation. Most children's Bibles conflate the creation of male and female in the image of God, and the creation of Adam and Eve in the second chapter of Genesis. The real Bible has separate stories, and this children's Bible does also. Genesis Chapter 6: Noah's ark. How many animals did Noah take on the ark? Only 2 of every kind? or 2 of the unclean ones plus 14 of the clean ones? Nearly all other children's Bibles will say "2", but the real Bible, and this children's Bible add that Noah was to take 14 of the clean ones. The artwork in the Old Testament is exquisite.

Good art work, misleading text
I like the pictures. I prefer the more realistic pictures to cartoon drawings. The text leaves something to be desired. It is not faithful to the Bible. Eve was never called “Adam’s special friend “. There are so many questionable parts that I will let my grandchildren look at the pictures and I will tell the story in my own words. I’m still looking for the perfect Bible Story Book. Too bad they no longer print Hurlbet’s Bible storybook

What a lovely Bible for children! The illustrations are stunning, and the overall quality is excellent. Each book of the Bible is beautifully condensed—engaging enough to hold their attention while still providing enough detail to follow the events of Scripture. I think this will be perfect for my younger children.

This is a really good Bible for kids. The stories are not too long and it has alot more stories than the more well known ones (i.e. Jonah, Noah, Daniel etc.)
