DEWALT Orbital Sander, 5 Inch Palm Sander Tool, 12,000 OPM (DWE6421)

Stellar. Most every DeWalt tool I have is excellent and this is no exception. After hearing I was struggling with a former hand sander, my bro-in-law suggested this, and it was heaven to use. With my former hand sander, I wrenched out my arm and neck trying to control it on edges but this sander is so easy on the muscles, I don't have to grip it like it owes me money since it just glides along smoothly doing exactly what it's supposed to do. No heavy vibration and the sand capacity in the sawdust catcher is far more than my former sander, so it lasts through a lot of sanding. I'm a fan and I highly recommend for any sanding job, but particularly those that require a LOT of sanding and detail work.

Love my sander and it worked well for my project. Bag to collect sawdust is small so not easily emptied but it controlled dust while sanding my chairs.

I love the power sander

This works well and has handled most things with minimum effort. It did struggle a bit on the edge of the boards. Just not much material to work with. Not the machine fault.

Dewalt quality of course

DEWALT Orbital Sander, 5-Inch (DWE6421) This orbital sander is powerful. I used it to sand (the ends of) plywood with 3M sandpaper* (80, 100, and 220) and sanding was quick and easy. The filter works great, but be sure to empty it every so often for best results. The only thing I didn't like about this sander was the on/off switch, because the rubber protection cover was probably made for a larger switch, and the switch is a little hard to find (no jokes please). Very minor complaint for me. *Do yourself a favor and use 3M sandpaper. I believe I bought this on sale and at the price I got it at (if I recall correctly ~50) I would definately recommend it, but it is worth more than that (I'd buy it again at a non-sale price, now that I know it's good) - I scored on the Amazon Prime sale for sure! I received no compensation for this review.

It works as it should. Havent had it long, hopefully it will last for a while. I do wish the on/off switch was a little higher. I find it difficult to turn it on and off

This is a great sander - very easy to use. I've owned quarter sheet sanders for many years but I've also learned to appreciate the ease of these 5" sanding sheets that are pre-cut and do not use clamps to hold them in place. Very simple velcro style of attachment and they do not slip or come off unless you remove them. I was fortunate and found mine listed in Amazon's Warehouse for $62. Description said it was used - good condition. Mine was actually new, still wrapped in plastic bag, inside of original factory box and included manual and dust bag. No sawdust or usage marks on anything. Highly recommended and many thanks to Amazon Warehouse for the quick shipment and very good pricing.

Super, yo lo ocupo para trabajos en casa y esta genial, el contenedor para el polvo ayuda sigue botando pero en menor cantidad. Se calienta un poco después de cierto tiempo de uso, aunque supongo es normal, lo he tenido varios meses (6 meses aprox) y con un uso constante y hasta el momento funcionando al 100.

Picked up one of these random orbit sanders when Amazon had one of their woodworking sales, as I've wanted one for my hobby woodworking projects for a while. As I'd expected having owned quite a few Dewalt tools over the years this sander is great, I'm really pleased with it. I was a bit sceptical of the dust bag, generally on sanders they never seem to do an awful lot - I've been pleasantly surprised how much dust this one collects! I'd say it's about as good as a sander is going to get dust wise anyway. Big improvement over my old B&D 1/4 sheet finish sander! The dust bag is fabric, attached to a plastic 'socket' - this pushes onto the dust port and twists to secure so it's not going to fall off. There's a lot of airflow through the dust port (switch it on without the dust bag and you'll see what I mean). The hook and loop sanding discs stay in place well, there's plenty enough power whatever your sanding task. This sander isn't light, and isn't overly heavy - just the right kind of weight, and the weight is also nicely centred over the sanding pad so I've found you don't need to apply as much pressure as with other sanders I've tried - so much less tiring on the hands and wrists. The body of the sander is the usual black rubbery finish so it's nice and grippy, even when covered in sanding dust. Shape and size I find very comfortable. In the box you get the sander, dust bag and owners manual. That's all, no bag, no sanding discs or anything. I've been using Dewalt branded discs in 240 grit, and Bosch for 80 and 120 grit. All have performed well on this sander and last well. Overall really pleased I got this sander, it's made sanding almost enjoyable and noticeably easier and quicker - I'd happily recommend this to anyone looking for a mid-price orbital sander. I looked at various different ones from other big brands which were about $30-$100 more than the price of this one, and couldn't really see any benefit to spending double. Glad I got this and saved my money. My only gripe - Dewalt don't be so cheap, please put a few sanding discs in the box... Hope that helps.

I regret purchasing this item. It broke on the very first day while using it for its intended purpose. To make matters worse, it does not come with a UK plug or socket—it’s imported from Brazil and has a USA plug instead! Now, I have to go through the hassle of requesting a refund. I even bought a UK power adapter separately, thinking it would solve the issue, but the product failed on its first use. Absolutely unacceptable quality. Avoid this at all costs
