Sorry, but not worth the price.
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but while these are not terrible, per se, they are also absolutely not worth the price. While these work well enough as an alternative to regular scissors, the quality just isn't there. These are not heavy-duty and the edges dull when cutting more robust materials. If you need scissors, get a cheaper set at your local store. If you need something heavy-duty, look up "trauma shears".

It had one job, MAJOR fail!
I purchased these to cut rugs and pad for a stair runner project. I got through 4 of the 8 pads and it stopped cutting. I noticed I had some fibers in between the blades and tried carefully to remove them. No luck, not unless I wanted to slice my hand open. These are dull, cheap and poorly designed. Get some good scissors from your fabric or home improvement store and call it a day! Don't waste your money on these. Return in progress

Not good for more than one use
Worked on one rug only.. blade becomes too dull to use again.. if you only need to use once if works well, don’t buy if you plan on trimming more than one rug pad

These do not cut through carpet.
I don't know if mine were defective, but these so called carpet cutters are the worst, you couldn't use these to cut through butter. I purchased these to cut through very thin Carpet Tiles, and was unable to make single cut through one, I had more luck with a pair of home scissors. After reading such good reviews, I was surprised how bad these were. I am actually sending them back and do not want a replacement with the same product. I'll be running to Home Depot this evening. Do not waste money on these.

Very sturdy. Works well for DIY air filters.
I bought these for cutting down 3M furnace filters for use in my air purifier. They cut the filter paper, cardboard edge and metal mesh well. The angled shears are great for keeping my fingers away from the sharp metal edges. (Note: use gloves for metal!) The one critique I have is that the latch does not release after squeezing the shear handles together with one hand. I usually have to pull the latch free with my other hand. I needed to cut some heavy duty steel flashing for my balcony renovation. My tin snips were warping the edge and leaving sharp spines all along it. I figured I'd try these Canary shears since they have a straight cutting edge. Even if it destroyed the shears I needed to finish the job quickly and it would be worth it. These shears handled the job admirably; I quickly and easily cut 14 feet of flashing lengthwise. I've noticed that the shears don't cut furnace filters as as well as before, but this was expected. The flashing was not the flimsy kind you find at Home Depot, but a thick piece of bonderized angle flashing from a pro shop. I have another pair of Canary shears and they are also high quality. I am impressed with this company.

Only works on relatively thin carpet
I had a thick commercial grade pile carpet I needed to cut up. This tool was entirely inadequate to the job. The instructions warn not to grip the handles near the ends to get more leverage, suggesting that the metal tangs don't go very far into the handles and they will break is so used. They are nicely made, but not a serious tool for heavy duty work.

Cuts carpet well but tough on the hand
My new area rug was smaller than the existing rug pad so the pad had to be trimmed. Scissors didn’t work at all because fibers were trapped where the two sides join thus preventing the blades to meet. I looked online for a more suitable tool and found these carpet scissors. The cutting ability is great but these are not ergonomic so your hand will still take a beating. I believe this product would be much improved if it had longer handles with a thicker grip for easier handling. I’d buy these again because the cutting ability is great but would have someone else use them for me.

Works good

I was very disappointed by this purchase especially after reading such glowing reviews. The grip is very uncomfortable and I did not find carpet cutting possible. The edge of the carpet has to be at the inner edge of the blades, and required a lot of force. In the end I used a simple scalpel blade, which costs pene. Beware.
