Would this be okay for rats? One has respiratory issues.

Old question but figured I would answer further for others. This is very poor bedding for rats. Not paper bedding in general but this type of clumped up paper bedding. It retains moisture for way too long and breeds bacteria. Your rats will develop respiratory issues after you begin using this type of clumped up paper bedding. Aspen, fleece or normal paper bedding is best for rats. If you go with any loose bedding, I strongly recommend freezing it for a few days to kill any pests eggs. I also strongly recommend sifting out any loose bedding to remove as much extra dust as possible before use. Otherwise your rats will be sneezing a lot and can develop more serious respiratory issues. I only use fleece if I have another area available for paper bedding for them to dig around and play in as digging is one of their natural instincts.

Ordered this for first time and when i opened it, it seemed like it had accumulated moisture in shipping. is that typical?how to dry? didn't smell bad

I have NEVER gotten aspen or any other wood product (like shavings) in any of my paper bedding. Do not ever order the brown paper bedding...it is so dusty that when you use it a mask is mandatory. Guinea pigs are very susceptible to getting respiratory illnesses, it can kill them. Pine is the only wood shaving to be careful of. It MUST be kiln dried and then it is safe to use. Kiln drying removes the toxic oils from any wood shaving. If you are in doubt call the manufacturer and ask how their product is made. The life of your pet is worth the cost of a phone call!

Great bedding

It's so far a very good bedding , hardly any dust ,price wise it's ok when you get it over Amazon ( you do save compare to others that offer, the volume of 178 litre is fantastic for the price compare to other brand name paper bedding I used ) It's very soft , smells neuteral and absorbed my guinea pigs Grayson and Tillies pee very good it's easy to clean away . I definitely will reorder soon to have spare for when I need it . Very fast delivery over UPS and the delivery driver was very help and respectful So so far a big yes compare of other bedding I used . Thank you

The best pet bedding for my gerbils!

The Small Pet Select Natural Paper Bedding, 56 L arrived super quickly! I have bought off these guys several times now and I am always happy with the pet bedding. It really helps my Libyan jird Viktor. He has a dust allergy (like me!) and so the paper bedding is the safest for him as there is little dust from it. My Mongolian gerbil Ubba also loves the bedding. It is safe, soft, absorbent and allergen free. It has little to no smell and it's so soft on their little paws! I would highly recommend this product to all small pet owners. It's fantastic!
