Anything with Michael Rosen involved is good.

This is a great book designed to be a conversation starter at home, in schools or youth clubs looking at major questions which generate debate. What do we mean by right and wrong? How do we come to those decisions in society? Is war ever right?Fabulous for use in the classroom with lots of youngsters where lots of debate can be had, great for getting children talking and listening to each other while thinking about the world they are destined to inherit.Ideal for school libraries but also for home .

Makes you think!

I use this book in college so that trainee teachers can have their own values challenged and to help them when they consider how children need to think through the values that they are taught. The questions are difficult but the presentation is appealing.

A great conversation or debate starter for teachers or youth groups

Michael Rosen is an author that I always look upon as a well researched and very well balanced argument former and this book is a perfect example of such work and his thoughts are included in this book alongside those of Annemarie Young, Riard Rieser, Tulip Siddiq, Laura bates and Alex Wheate. This book is great for any students studying Ethics and Philosophy or similar subjects. Many questions are discussed in this book including What do we mean by right and wrong?, What is democracy?, Is it ever right to go to war? and What are your values? Each question has a range of information discussed before leaving some think about questions. It would be a great resource for teachers who are wanting to start conversations in class or debating societies or for students looking for starting points for essays or pieces of work.I really think this is a great book as a conversation starter and will make a great resource for schools.

Oh goody, I’m number one to review. I grew up as the youngest in a repressive family that dumped all this moral goody goody talk on me. Result, terribly shy, self doubt, always got knocked back, and stayed down, no money for decent dental work etc etc. This is selective in the extreme and skirts around current events...Grenfell...sorry, where is the discussion on the moral high ground about the people who manipulated the situation to defraud (well us)?Global warming and pollution. How about the fact that children demanding the latest games console or plastic wendy house or tv character yoghurt pots are the main cause of pollution and that runaway consumerism and social competition is instilled into them.Oh deary me and the causes of World War 2 are so horribly complicated, much more than these two have any idea about. In fact it was an attitude that Germanic peoples should be punished for their previous invasions economically (somewhat in the finger wagging style of this book). The result was horrendous. For some reason the authors don’t choose to investigate the aftermath of the Russian Revolution and Stalin’s mass starvation policies.Well there is definitely an audience for this book. At the moment it’s an audience that is being found out for it’s hypocrisy over anti Semitism. Don’t try to make your kid feel guilty by reading this contradictory book. Let them be bold, bright, capable of looking after themselves finacially and not instilled into being cowed into being exploited by hypocrites

Great at proving independent thought

This book won't be for all young adults. But for those who are questioning the political world around them, and want to be provoked and stimulated, it might just be a breath of fresh air. And you don't have to agree with all the points of view included her - the point is to provoke thought , and debate, and eventually individual and independent thinking. I think this book should be celebrated and applauded.
